Looking at a new relationship starting up and having to give up the hobby, just can't afford both! I want a clean bill of health before it gets serious. I want to get an STD test but frankly don't know what to ask for. Are there specific tests to request besides the obvious HIV test? I've no noticable symptoms that I'm aware of but that may mean nothing. All hobby time has been safe save for an odd BBBJ , last one being lasf fall with none since.
Any recommendations or thoughts would be appreciated.

The doctor is in
I would suggest asking for a test on Syphilis (blood test), Chlamydia (urine test) and Gonorrhea - I'll let the medical professionals tell you about that one!:eek:

Chances are, they will test you for the most common infections without you having to ask.

Hope this helps! Good luck.

Yeah tell em what you have done, sex act wise and they know what you were at risk of better than you do. I went once after getting a bbbj and told my doc(who is a lady, I actually used Dr. Wankers excuse) I said I wanted HIV test, she said it wasn't really necessary, did it anyway though, and she had me tested for hepatitis and some other common stuff.

ST has some good advice here I think. I recently saw an independent escort's website that had her results from a full screen of STD tests scanned and posted including the signature of one of the docs from this place. They are in Toronto's gay village and I understand they specialize in STD testing with discretion.

Why Not?

Let them decide what to test for.Dont insist on a test for Gonorrhea.This test is not done on men anymore because it is unpleasant.,its diagnosed by symptoms of discharge and hitting the roof every time you pee.You will know if you have it.Its only symptomless in women.

Screening for STD'S

Bboy;

Just tell your doctor straight up that you want a Screening Test for STD's and HIV. No explantion is needed or expected.

Everything will be done at once, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HepB, HepC, and possibly a culture on urine sample (I think that is all). First three are blood tests but the Gonorrhea and Chlamydia both require a swab (that's two swabs) run into the urethra, kind of unpleasant but no big deal. Incidently, both of these may be transmitted orally so bbbj's are a possible source and chlamydia generally causes few or no symptoms in men.

HIV is not part of the normal Screening Tests but is ordered separately if requested, and will require several subsequent blood tests over at least a six month period, I think 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months. Used to be year but is now considered almost definite after 6 mos..

Thankyou all for the responses they've been great. As I've stated I've no symptoms that I'm aware of, and I have been doing a little research as well. Just want to do the responsible thing here.
thanks again!
