I remember frequenting Club 77 in Aylmer a number of years ago. Not the best looking girls but they were very fun and accommodating, shall we say.

I also went to Pink Panther a number of times but that place became rough as the years went by, with fights and even shootings, so I am not surprised it closed down.

Come to think of it, I have never been to the Silver Dollar aka the Dirty Dollar and Jason's in the high-tech heyday in Kanata.

What is your favorite memory of the SCs that no longer exist (either here or in Gatineau)?

The Dollar always seemed to promise extra mileage but I never found it to be up to the standards of the the Fax at lunch. Same with Pink Panther. Going back further, Valentinos on Somerset had beautiful girls and you could watch as everyone got a table dance.

Are you sure you don't mean Club 61 in Aylmer. Club 77 is or was in the more eastern part of the old Ville D'Gatineau...also a bit of a dump but not as much as 61. In that place the girls worked hard for the money. What an ambience there :)

Gypsy Rose was the first place I ever had a lapdance. Still remember it well!
Had some great nights at Panther in it's heyday, but it went downhill fast.
I could name many others, but I don't think this thread would be replete without a shout out to the wonderfully craptacular Cheeks!! lol

Great thread thanks.

I think Club 77 is in Gatineau and still open. I met Virginie there and will never forget her.

Of course Fannies Cabaret (was it Fanny Cabaret or Fannies not sure) first on Bank street in early 90's and then moved to Market area in late 90's. There was another on Bank street South of Fannies which was good. We were going downstairs and sitting around the stage. I remember a short hair brunette named Sheila who allowed me to touch her boobs for extra $5 Touching boobs was a big deal in early 90's before contact dancing became a norm in early 2001.

That was in 1992 and I was novice and very young. Even the site of a breast excited me more than sex does now. I never asked for more.

Never went to Fanny's on Bank St. (around Barrymore's if I recall correctly) but do remember the place after it moved to York St. (east of Dalhousie I think). Recall it was a somewhat small, second floor establishment with a very loud sound system. Mostly remember a lovely blonde dancer there named Amber - she always carried a small purse/handbag fashioned from a Texas licence plate.

Before closing the club went through a succession of different names. At one point it had the unfortunate moniker 'O'Ladies' and there might have been a name between that and 'Fanny's'. Did it end its life as 'Minx' or was that before 'O'Ladies'? If it wasn't called 'Minx' at one point, I'm also unaware of where this club ('Minx') might have been, unless we are going way back in the wayback machine.

(Ah. Posted this before I saw WIR's clarification of this above. Seems that 'Minx' was one of the iterations of the 'other' York St. SC.)

Some location I think...If I remember correctly it was east of Dal. and was the second unit in from Dal's end of the building. Maybe 1 street south or north of Barefax. I know I went twice but don't think that place was even open a year.
Well, I could be mistaken but I have a feeling that this place (Fanny's/O'Ladies anyway) was actually on York St. but on the other (south) side of the street from the 'Fax and, as you say, east of Dalhousie. Fanny's (in the market, that is) was originally entered via the parking lot beside the building and the club was, I think, actually on the third floor (or maybe the second floor) and indeed the CR area was up another flight. The club, still called Fanny's for a while, then relocated (within the building) to a different space on the second floor and here everything was on a single level and the club was then entered directly from the York St. sidewalk (a bit off-putting during the summer months as patrons had to walk a narrow path between two restaurant patios - not the most discreet entrance to say the least.). I seem to recall that the larger space that Fanny's (in the market) originally occupied was turned into some sort of live music venue (Great Canadian Music Hall?) for a while. Am rarely around that end of York St., not sure what's in there now - some sort of nightclub?

Anyway, this is all ancient history now and appropos of nothing I guess.

Some location I think...If I remember correctly it was east of Dal. and was the second unit in from Dal's end of the building. Maybe 1 street south or north of Barefax. I know I went twice but don't think that place was even open a year. Their main attraction was a young petite local girl who would bend down and put her shoulders on your thighs and flip herself up so her bum would come rest on your chest, her "cookie" was inches in front and just below your face. I've never seen anyone do that since. Funny how I remember that so well.

Update: I just searched it on Google and it says it was at the corner of Cumberland and York.

Minx Ottawa
128 York
Ottawa, Ontario Corner of Cumberland And York in the Market
(613) 241 0445

Here is an old terb link about it:
https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?137754-Minx-strip-club-on-York
Ah yes, that's the location as I recall it. On the south side of York between Dalhousie and Cumberland and closer to the Cumberland end of the block.

(Thought there was another name used at one stage - the thread mentions 'Pure Pleasure' so at least four names attached to this place.)

A short trip down memory lane. Thanks, WIR

Went to pink panther one night just to mix it up. Asked the only girl i found attractive to go for a dance. Tried to complement her dance by saying it was interesting, to which she responded 'what the fuck does that mean'.. Moments later in the same dance she rhetorically asked 'you do blow right'. When i said no, she asked 'then what the fuck's wrong with you'. Only thing that ever came close was a dancer aggressively recruiting me o attend a personal wealth building seminar at a club that's still open... and I typically wear a tshirt and sweat pants to clubs.

Yes, 128 York st was several different SC's over the years. It is the Liquor store bar now but it still holds SC status with the city.

I am in no means doubting you but asking if you are 100% sure on that? Interesting!
This is probably accurate. As I understand it, municipalities are able to limit permits for 'adult entertainment cabarets' but licenses at a location cannot be 'cancelled'. Not sure if there is some time limit to this though - i.e. does the licence become redundant if the premises is not managed as an 'adult' establishment for some number of years? Not aware that this is the case but do have the vague notion that the limited number of licenses cannot 'shrink' from some total established when the pertinent legislation was enacted.

If anyone has the full-blown lowdown on this, it would indeed be "interesting".

I am not 100% sure but this location has had different SC's since the city changed the law in the early 90's. It was set up that no new SC's could open at any desired location. The existing clubs were granted status based on their location...and their location had to meet city guidelines. Not near residential etc. And I could be wrong but I believe 128 York st SC license was granted because there was a gay bar there at the time and they had nude entertainment on occasion, so they required a license.

Haven't thought of Valentino 's in years , that was my first strip club . I was 17 , and the girls were hot . If they liked you or you had money you could go upstairs to the apartments . It was different then . They still wanted the money but they would sit with you and have fun . Many times we went from Valentino to shalamars and other clubs . Sometimes the lido ( strip club on the strip). Actually find to much of a
Hard sell now . But do miss the girls . No such thing as private dance it was all
Table dances

The place on Bank Street near Lansdowne was Cheeks Cabaret in the 1980s. I was just a kid and I remember a girl named Tarna with amazing huge boobs. Had to be careful though -- her boyfriend was a biker. I think the girls carried little stools to dance on at the tables. That way they were doing "stage dancing," I guess. Five dollars a dance. LOL

Like Bangminton, I miss Club 61 in Alymer. Once every couple of months I used to drop in. Remember those Christmas lights they always had around the stage? Sometimes wonderful things happened there. LOL

With respect to Mustang's post, the first time I went to Valentino's, the girl was dancing to a song (I kid you not) called "If you don't want to f*&^ me baby, baby f*&^ off."

I miss the Dollar. A long time ago I killed a lot of brain cells in that place. But the place I miss the most and nobody has mentioned is Habba-Babba's in Westboro. If they hadn't closed that place it would be a gold mine now. And of course the target of all the new hipsters in that neighbourhood.

Yeah...I miss the dollar also...that said...I had some great times at the Pink Panther. What was the club on Bank at the corner of Gilmour? Was that called Diamonds? It was near Barrymores.

Ok...just scrolled up...was it really called Fanny's? That does not seem right...but it was about 25 years ago...and my memory sucks...

Fanny's was the one on Bank street. I remember because I bought my first car in May 1991 and went there to celebrate. Later in 1999 they moved to downtown near King Edward intersection with George street. And then they lost their customer and closed a few years later.

You are correct! The place on the 2nd FL at Bank\Gilmour was Diamonds. It was not around that long likely because Fanny's was nearby.

Lots of fun times at the Dollar, especially Friday's after work.
