Delgado

Carlos hit a monster 450+++ shot while on re-hab assignment down here in the minors. Looks like he's ready for action. Probrobly too little too late. I wouldn't be a bit suprised if he's traded before the deadline.

yeah he looked good last night and they Jays are gonna miss the playoffd again! So I'm sure he will be traded to a team thats post season bound or close to clinching a playoff birth and Delgado is the missing piece

Jays need to find a way to beat the Red Sox and Yankees and they could be in the post season but yep too late now!

It's tough to compete when two of the guys in front of you in the division are spending orders of magnitude more money than you.
:(
Every year's a bit of a rebuild. They're still heading in the right direction. And, what you've been hearing from Jays' management for years now (if you've been listening) is that we're in year three of a five-year plan. Any further expectations have been brought about by fan expectations and the media.

Delgado cannot come back on that salary. Therefore I dont think he will be back even at a reduced salary. I'd rather see them invest in some pitching and just move Phelps to 1st.

It's hard to commit such a big percentage to one guy, no matter how good. Delgado needs to either accept a pay cut, or move on.

Can Phelps even play first?? I have no idea ..... I don't think anyone else does, either.

Well Phelps can hit. Hes no Delgado type hitter but he can find a way to get on base. Hopefully he will be a Jay for a while!

hmm maybe they should think twice about trading him "at the moment". Just got the HR to help the Jays sweep the Mariners. I say keep him while hes hot now and that the jays have this streak going! Just 3 games but a streak!

No, they need to move him when he's hot.

I believe he's a free agent at the end of the season. I hope they can structure a deal, but not likely. When did Ricardi take over GM. It's only been a couple of years, right? I think he'll get there. Delgado should welcome the trade. Seems like everyone who gets traded from the Jays ends up having a great season. (Shannon Stewart) I think the only way to compete with the big boys is pitching, like Oakland. Unfortunately, things don't look too good here in the minors, but ther AA club is playing very well. Just as long as the Yankees don't win it this year, I don't care who does.

Can someone explain to me what a "walk-off" home run is? I assumed it was the new in-your-face replacement term for a lead-off HR. But that cannot be the case when Carlos and I believe Dave Berg each hit 3-run "walk-off" HRs last night.

In the laboratory.
"A walk off home run is a home run that ends the game. Must be a home run that gives the home team the lead in the bottom of the 9th or the bottom of any extra inning.

Called this because since the game is over after this home run the teams walk off the field just afterward.

Sportscasters will also use the term "walk-off double" or other such terms if such a hit drives in the winning run to end the game. "

I was too lazy to write something myself. Not too lazy to Google though. Ripped it off some website or other.

Well that may be the case He certainly would be a great addition to any one of the division leaders or teams that have a good chance to make the post season. If a deal is in the works I hope we get some decent pitching in return. If we had more of that this year the Jays would be higher up in the standings. That bad start cost the jays! That and tampa bay's hot streak to move into 3rd spot.
