1-0 at the half.

Anyone who beats the French is okay in my books. ;) 'Specially the Brits.

HAHAHAHAAHAH!!!!!

Topcat where are you?

What an amazing turn around. The cross by Beckham and the goal by Lampard was as good as it gets. But what was bigger was the save by Barthez on a penalty. France deserved the win. The only thing England could do was defend and thats not enough when your playing France. --- Kev

While this game had an amazing finish how could you make a such a statement. (And please, no Rangeresque comments on winning). Gerrard made a horrible gaff. How does that result into a great French play? (Rehtorical) Did they deserve a tie? Probably. A win .. Definately not. But they did steal one out of the bag.

n_v once again your lack of knowledge ceases to amaze me. Obviously you didn't see the game or you wouldn't be making such a bonehead comment.

France controlled the game. From start to finish. You win by capitizing on the mistakes of others. Beckham should have capitized, he did not. It went the other way and France made them pay. Thats not luck people. The first goal by Zidane was as good as the goal by Lampard.

It was well deserved win by France. If England would have managed to hang on. They would have been the lucky ones.

The next games of real interest will be Italy and Denmark on Monday with Holland and Germany on Tuesday. Cheers --- Kev

England played probably the best (as Becks put it) 89 minutes in a very long time..too bad about the end result - but fuck that was exciting and excruciatingly painful as an England fan - I hope England can take those 89 minutes of hard play and relay it into wins against Switzerland and Croatia...as a sidenote Barthez' big nose came in handy for something...OUCH!

Benhur, are you referring to Soccer? if yes, maybe you should watch the Game a second time.
The English were totally outplayed, only a few counterattacks they made.
England should have won, they didn't. A football game is not played 89 minutes.... it is played until the referee's final Whistle.

ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!

I've never cared much for the 'soccer' word.....we play football, the real one, played with your feet. And I suppose you speak french...
And even if you don't agree....its ok, in happiness, we can agree to disagree......enjoy the rest of the tournament.
Lizarazu au journal L'Équipe:
‘’On a eu le mérite de continuer jusqu'au bout. On a essayé, ils étaient très bien organisés en défense et on a buté tout le temps. Au final, la chance, cette fois-ci, a tourné de notre côté. On a trois points. Ça va nous donner une énorme confiance pour la suite des événements.’’

Beckham....

Perception of the same event by different people can be so different, read this from the Guardian:

''Beckham insisted: "It was one of the best teams in the world and we have outplayed them for 90 minutes. We can take a lot from that game.''

Outplayed....wow....perception.

A tough loss. I'll bet they were practically mourning in England.
Ah, well - it shouldn't be too hard for England to get out of that group anyway. Still, an utter stunner.

Yeah, they were outplayed. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean they were BADLY outplayed. Duh?
It seems they lost BY A HAIR, which is what Beckham was saying.

Not that I think Beck is all that smart

What's so tough about it?!?!?!?!? Did you even SEE the match?!

Uh .... I think it's obvious.

Yeah, the end was utterly stunning. To concede two goals in injury time to lose a game is a stunning blow.

Step away from the meds, Remy .....

The Brits were outplaying the French, marginally, for 90 minutes. They were outplayed HIDEOUSLY in the final three minutes of injury time, and that cost them the game. Yes, those final three minutes, and only those final minutes, were enough to allow the French to outplay them overall.

A stunning, tough loss.
In what was is this not utterly clear?

back. And all you French fans out there who think they are still
the team to beat, if they keep playing like that for the first
90 minutes they,ll be out quick. Vive le ENGLAND!!!

WHAT the hell happened?!

Alright, alright....just a slight bump on the road. Hopefully the team recovers from this.

* I hate the French team almost as much as the Lakers*
