Folks, forget about Holland winning it as long as Advocaat is coach. This man is the absolute worst coach EVER. He insists on playing Kluivert and v. Nistelrooy together when it has failed for so many games. Kluivert shouldnt even be on the team IMO.

My picks are:

Italy
France
Spain
Germany
And maybe Holland (if they kill their coach)

England can also surprise and Sweden as well.

I think that Advocaat has learned and will play holland in a 4-3-3 formation. No Kluivert! I think the forwards will be VDmeyde - Van Nistelrooy - Robben

Germany, no way! They really stink, and dont be surprised if they fail to make it past the first round. I would add Portugal to your list since they are the hosts.

Hell. Where Else?
www.terb.ca
Group A:
Spain
Portugal

Group B: (Group of Death)
France
Croatia or England - Whoever beats Switzerland by more. They will be tied at the end of the group. I'd go with Croatia

Group C: (Christ, Canada could advance out here, maybe.)
Italy - Boy, they lucked out
Sweden

Group D:
Netherlands
Czechs.

Get back to me for round two.

BTW, nice to see Johnny back. :)

Sheesh johnny/soprano got booted again? I wonder if it was for the old offence or he got into 'another' tiff?

I liked johnny around we need soccer people in the Sports Forum. Even if we don't always see eye to eye. Maybe he'll come back as Johnny Sack.

Just pencil me in for France winning the whole show. --- Kev

Today the Toronto Sun has a nice 32 page preview (yes I know about half is advertising). But it gives a pretty good rundown of the groups with teams and players to watch for. There is a nice chart to follow along and fill in after each game and a rundown of all the Bars/Pubs carrying the games in South Central Ontario.

My Take On England:

Back four is in shambles: No Terry, No Rio, haven't played together long enough to create cohesion.
Midfield: Gerrard will run all over the park, Beckham - unless they have a free kick inside 20 yards he is over-rated.
Up Front: Who's going to score?

Equals: Lucky to advance to knockout stage.

But Rooney (and England will be much better) in 2 years at WC2006 will be ready and at Euro2008 will be world best. That will be their turn.

Superquad; yes their defense is in turmoil but Terry should
be back for Switzerland. This has to be Beckham,s coming out
party to prove he,s one of the Elite players in the world. Upfornt
they do have Heskey, Owen and Rooney. that,s a nice balanced attack. They should advance out of this group, beyond that i agree they will be in tough. "C,MON ENGLAND"

What an upset. Portugal losing to Greece.

Greece played Portugal well and deserved the win. It just goes to show you how close all these countries really are.

To think some thought Portugal were going to be in the final.

Next up.....Spain vs Russia. This one should be interesting. --- Kev
