what are the by-laws for Ottawa massage parlours? Are there any licences available anymore?

I think it is in the bylaws that all Massage parlours
1. be way over priced.
2. to be complete rip offs.
3. to be complete waste of time.
I may be wrong but from what I know about all the parlours out here now, they all follow those 3 rules.

If you look in the Ottawa Sun there are licensed and unlicensed massage studios. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is and whether anyone in LE or bylaw enforcement cares. I don't have the Sun in front of me, but I seem to recall that the unlicensed places advertise under Adult Entertainment and that they tend not to advertise their address.

interesting

So its probably aromatherapy places and holistic places that are licenced........ and "bodyrub parlours" are considered illegal. Well unless the city of Ottawa has a by-law that restricts any from ever opening, then they will have to regulate them and at least issue 2..... what a nice right we have.......the right not to be discriminated against.....

I would like to eventually have a full sized spa. But in the beginning it will be a private studio with maybe 2-3 other girls working for me. I will also need to find a great manager because I wont be able to be there all the time as I will be in school full-time.....

I need names......... there has to be a few decent ladies.... I cant beleive that they are all money grabbing biaaaatches

Well, if you need someone to train the help, just say the word!

:)

Actually most or all of the licensed places - at least the ones that advertise in the Sun - offer extras.

If you open one with no licence the odds are you will get busted within 6 months. The LE around here have zero tollerence for unlicensed parlours

My thoughts.....

There are definitely some duds out there, but with patience and a little research, I would have to disagree with knight66. There are some really amazing mp's out there. Well, moreso some really great attendants at some MP's.
The general breakdown in the Sun seems to be into 2 categories - licensed and unlicensed. From MY EXPERIENCE so far, licensed ones are the way to go. Generally cleaner, nicer, and they feel safer. They tend to stick around longer, so you can build up a trust, or find a repeat favorite. That being said, I have seen some of the worst MP attendants EVER at licensed studios. The unlicensed ones are more of a gamble, and I have only ever found one gem out there (still a personal favorite). I have been creeped out many times at unlicensed studios, they seem to come and go, be dingy, dirty, and have a high sketch factor.

That being said, let me recommend my favorite licensed MPs. Not for a particular attendant, but for generally good service, clean, and reasonable price:

Michelle's on Donald Street
Body Basics on St-Laurent
Body Care on Riverside
Maureen's in Hull

I hope this helps.
