Hmmmm...lets see-

Someone who actually won a championship - clutch shooter...hmmmm...

ok- here it goes - West from the Lakers, Bird from the Celtics, The Doctor from the Sixers and MJ from the Bulls.

Now from the guys who never won a championship - either The Iceman Gervin from SA or a posted up Barkley from the Sixers days or even Bernard King from the Knicks.

I think I've got it.

I think Elgin Baylor- averaged 27.4 ppg / 13.5 rebounds per game career. In 134 playoff games he averaged 27 / 12.9. From 1960-1963 his ppg avg was 34.8 / 38.8 and 34.
He led his team to the finals 8 times. An 11 time all star and 10 times NBA first team selection.
Now for the bad news - he never won the scoring title because of some guy named Wilt. Baylor also got skunked in the finals by some team in New England.....in the 60's the Celtics killed em.

But......we can also make a case for ....

Pistol Pete....5 time All star...all rookie team, Pistol Pete has a gawdy shooting average from the field (.459 in 62 games in 1975/76). Make the NBA first team twicw and the second team twice. Flamboyant with the ball, indefensible fade away and turn around j.

But those two I think we can make a case for.

(He was the most famous shooter I could think of but I'd better run and hide now.)

All great players from the last 20 years who never won a championship. Healer, good call on Elgin Baylor. You never hear much about him anymore, but he was an amazing player--the Kevin Garnett of his day.

i'm not sure if I'd say dominique wilkins was a clutch shooter. I mean clutch like reggie miller , or say someone where you know if you kick it in the corner it's going to be drained (larry, robert horry, ray allen etc). I think dominique was more of a volume shooter and if he took more shots than you, he'd probably win the game.

Whatever, dude. It all depends on how you define 'clutch shooter'. I hear what you are saying... Wilkins was not a sharpshooter like some of the guys you mention, but I do know that when the game was on the line, the Hawks went to him, which is how I define 'clutch'.
