Here's something that happened to me a few years ago, but in light of recent developments I thought it would be worth sharing: Before retiring, I used many of the respected agencies. One time, I'd made a booking as usual, and thought nothing of it. Then, approximately half a year or so later, I contacted the same agency via text, which simply said "Is so and so available?" The response I received threw me for a bit of a loop: (Keep in mind, the only info the agency would have had from that particular correspondence would be the number, and the content of the text message) The reply from the agency was this:
"Hi, insert real name here
It's good to hear from you again! How have you been? So and so won't be available until after 9pm, but if you'd like to see someone else, let us know."
How the hell would they have known who I was without keeping records? That was the one and only time I'd ever encountered it, and it may have just been a one off sort of thing. However, I'm pretty sure it's standard practice to not keep anything on file after an appointment has concluded. Not that it matters to me anymore regardless, but for those who are still active in the hobby you might want to double check that there are no paper trails leading back to you...
