They were able to tie the Spurs up last year, but in the end they failed to get the job done. Can the Lakers take two on their home court again this year and if so can they complete the deal and win the series?

Spurs will win the series!!!

SPURS WIN THEIR 17TH CONSECUTIVE GAME!!!

It was a fun game to watch, that Game 2. The pace seemed to really favor the Lakers moreso then the Spurs but this year the Spurs have adapted to fastbreaks and motion offense which has really expanded their offense from long droughts offensively.

Tony Parker has continued to be MAGNIFICENT! When we all saw Parker torch the Lakers again in the opening quarter, I'm sure the Lakers and it's fans are thinking "Here we go again!". Tony had a playoff career high 30 points on 57% shooting from the floor.

The kids a dynamo along with our Argentinean Sensation Manu Ginobili!!! He had a fabolous game as well with all the things he does for the team.

Tim Duncan was Tim Duncan!!! He's the real MVP! nuff said!

Give alot of credit to Bruce Bowen for containing Kobe to 15 points on 41% FG shooting.

The 3rd quarter was a scare when the Lakers made their run to keep the game close. Spurs got outscored 23-12 in the 3rd but obviously bounced back with a solid 4th quarter strangle hold on the Lakers.

Game 3 is going to be huge! Either the Spurs close the coffin on LA or the Lakers regain momentum at home to try and even the series with some home cooking.

The stage is set for Big Shot Rob to make his mark!

Tim Duncan real MVP?? KG didn't deserve it?

The Lakers running on all pistons would definately be a champion team, but this year as last year is not the case, the Spurs have their number, I think this series is done in 6.

I hope it's done in 4. It's about time someone put the Lakers in their place.

I've always said that the team is grossly over rated. The players, as individuals; at one time...were all great. But not this time.

Lakers are done. Gary Payton has that glazed "Where in the hell am I? " look everytime he's on the defensive end of the floor.

Of course the team chemistry between Phil, Kobe, and Shaq is doing wonders as well.

And distractions? The Lakers don't have any. Just Shaq's Dad in the papers dissing Kobe.

Remember Blazers vs. Lakers 2000

Dont jinx it guys, be patient.
I have been a laker-hater since 2000 when the blazers could not hold on for the last 4th quarter......
Back to the point, every individual on the lakers team is overrated, while they are extremmely athletic, their fundementals fade as their egos grow....listen to the coach, why ??
KG did deserve the MVP, just not the Playoffs MVP, give the guy some credit.
glad to see bball fans on this board, thought I was alone...

KG will not win the playoff MVP, if the spurs make it past the lakers, there as good as a lock to win, and Duncan for the playoffs MVP.

It will be tough for the Lakers. The key right now is stopping Tony Parker. Payton can't do it. Its about time Phil Jackson put Bryant on him. I'd also put O'Neal on Duncan instead of Malone. The only problem is that the Spurs will play pick-n-roll with Duncan and Parker if that happens, and thats the achilles heel of the Lakers on defense.

Kobe Bryant is going to have to find a way to get some easy buckets against Bruce Bowen. Phil Jackson would be wise to use Kobe as the post passer in the triangle offense. I think that Bowen's post defense is overrated.

Malone the key.

This seems to be a vastly improved Spurs team, even though it seems to be the same team. Another year for their young guys like Parker and Ginobli to mature, and some Bowen defense to step up.

I would say that Malone's offense is the key. It is untapped and he had to defer his offense down to 13 points to keep the shaq-kobe duo happy. Payton really has disappeared.

I don't really know
They scrape the triangle yesterday so Gary can play. He's much better at the pick and roll. They beat the Spurs pretty good yesterday. Hopefully Spurs will recover

About nine months ago, we were all but handing the NBA title to the Lakers. After watching games 1 and 2 of this series, I thought back at that, and wondered, how we could all have misread that one? Then the Lakers made some adjustments, got some home cooking, and convincingly beat the Spurs in Game 3.

I still think the Spurs will win, but I think the Lakers still have some fight in them and it won't be easy. Parker needs to come up big again, and the Spurs need to get something from Turkoglu. Game 4 will be very interesting.

I'm getting in late on this. I hate the Laker's. But any team that has Shaq ( I hate him to, he's too fat ) and Kobe aren't out of anything. I really hope San Antonio wins but with Fat Shaq and Kobe, there not out of it.

Defense and chemistry

That's because we didn't take into account defense and chemistry. Malone and Payton are both supposed to be excellent defenders, but their chemistry is off with the Lakers. Sometimes Payton doesn't even make the starting lineup and then he pouts.

It might be a good thing if he pouts. :)

San Antonio will be alright because their team best should be better than the Lakers' team best, the Spurs have to frget that they're playing 4 hall of famers and realize that most of the pressure is on the Lakers.

Well, the Lakers did, in fact, come back and beat the Spurs, and I have to give them credit. After looking just horrible in the first two games, the Lakers made all the right adjustments, bottling up Duncan inside and denying Parker penetration. I like Parker, but the kid is just not a jump shooter and he looked bad out there at times. Turkoglu disappeared, and I began to wonder why Bowen was even in the NBA. That guy cannot shoot. In fact, the Spurs couldn't hit an outside shot if their lives depended on it over the last few games. They sure could have used a guy like a Sean Elliott, Steve Kerr, or Steve Smith. Hell, they could even have used Danny Ferry for cryin' out loud.

Lakers-Timberwolves... now that will be an interesting series.
