I think having advertisements on a base is far from what should be considered a great big example of the degradation of the "sport". With a sport where more and more players are saying they are using steriods and have a lockout threat almost every other year, having some comic book product placements should be way down on the list of what to fix with baseball.

I'm glad they're maintaining some level of "purity" and not turning the players and ballparks (well, what's left of them) into Indy cars.

Lets look at Team Canada at the worlds they have adveritisements on their jerseys to go along with the 20 or so on the ice.

How many times do u see the top of the base in a MLB telecast. I think this is stupid for the filmakers not MLB.

Regardless of whether you are in favour or not, MLB backing down on the advertising on the bases just shows why no one goes to watch baseball anymore. Tradition is what's killing baseball.

And Spiderman logos on the bases will bring fans back?!
Puhlease.
And lots of people go to watch baseball. I agree that things should be done - hey, much like hockey.
But, this was nothing but a cash grab - nothing to do with improving attendance.

Maybe they should make baseball a full contact sport lol. Bodycheck the guy as hes trying to run down to first or whatever lol. Well they have crashes at homeplate and the occasional bench clearing brawl. Full contact makes sports fun to watch and it might get some new fans hehe. Baseball is a slow sport IMO anyways needs some livening up!

Baseball is too paced for its own good.

That's not a bad thing, but it is if you're part of the new generation - tiny attention span, huge conditioning to violence, etc.

I like baseball the way it is, for the most part. Just like I like hockey the way it is, for the most part. Both MLB and the NHL needs tweaks, not overhauls.
