The Hotel Logistical Fun of Trip Planning to NF/Hamilton

The Hotel Logistical Fun of Trip Planning to NF/Hamilton

If anyone else is planning a trip especially end of May, this sharing of my planning mess may be helpful.

I hope to arrive via flight to Buffalo May 25th, as to miss your Victoria Day and plan to stay in the region till June 6th.

Exact itinerary is being screwed up by the U.S. Memorial Day which is filling hotels or resulting in very high prices in Niagara Falls. And in June rates usually increase and may skyrocket with the opening of the huge new Casino in June. I wanted to get out of the Falls before the Casino mobs arrive (I have zero interest in Casinos.. just women).

I want to spend more time in the Falls with all the strip clubs I enjoy than Hamilton, although lots of things to enjoy there also. Also Hamilton hotels aren't quite as much effected by the U.S. holiday.

Being cheap.... I like the Niagara great hotels (except no high speed Internet) I can usually get for $US35/night via Priceline other than over the U.S. holiday. Renaissance Fallsview for example is easy to get for $US35 and is very nice. But no rooms available (or at $200+ rate) on the Memorial Day weekend. Makes sense that zillions of Americans are making a visit to the Falls. I could care less about the Falls...its the women I am interested in! There are no Priceline hotels on Lundy only in the tourist area. Nothing wrong with that since nicer hotels at very low prices normally via Priceline.

The only Priceline hotel in Hamilton is a great bargain - the Sheridan at about $US38 is very nice and has high speed Internet..but I absolutely hate its downtown location, parking extra, terrible traffic and no where near the places I enjoy visiting. I've found a Holiday Inn on Centennial with high speed Internet at about $US75. While not as nice and twice the price as the Sheridan it is my favored hotel at this point for Hamilton and probably nicer than the nearby Comfort Inn (without high speed Internet) I stayed at last trip at about the same price.

I want to take advantage of nights I can get at nice NF hotels via Priceline. BUT... I also want to go to Secret Ventures party in Toronto on Dec 3rd in downtown Toronto. But I really don't want to stay downtown long and this trip is primarily for NF/Hamilton. So I might commute from Hamilton hotel. Or maybe also get a cheap Priceline hotel (about $38 for Courtyard by Marriott for example I used last trip) just to sleep that night and still keep the Hamilton hotel so don't have to repack etc. I may be bouncing around enough between Hamilton and NF. Would like to wind up back at the Falls closer to Buffalo for my return flight to Phoenix.

Hopefully this trip I wouldn't be in pain half the time like my last trip a month ago to Toronto. I would up having a root canal - very nice Dentist with great young Russian dental assistant a few blocks from my Toronto downtown hotel (Courtyard by Marriott $38/night via Priceline).

For anyone who like me lusts ... for high speed Internet, there is good news coming. I enjoyed the Ramada Coral Ridge on a prior trip which has best location for what I enjoy but dial up on the old phone lines is very very slow like around 14k. Since I'm use to high speed it was very frustrating with such a slow connection.

While none of these are Priceline participating hotels, all the Best Western's in the U.S. and Canada are suppose to have high speed Internet by 9/30/04. Also the nice Hampton Inn No of the Falls on Victoria which is moderately priced tells me they will have high speed Internet as of 6/30/04. It's nice to see some more hotels in the Falls joining the modern Internet age. Last trip I stayed at Sheridan Fallsview in executive floors. Wonderful high speed Internet, beautiful view of the Falls, great hotel (except for fire alarm going off from welder on roof), but far too expensive to use very often. I had my nice view of the Falls last trip, now want to be more economical and spend money on women :)

Now back to spending hours trying to make various reservations and trying to finalize itinerary.
