Yes, you read the headline right.

IF the Leafs can keep up the intensity we all saw last night, I can't argue that they couldn't go all the way. Great game.

Although my heart won't disagree with you - and neither will my head, to some degree - the problem is, in any one game, almost any team can look like a Cup contender. I don't think the Leafs skaters have played well enough, outside of a handful of games this playoffs, to put themselves into a league with TBay or SJ, say.

However, I think that every team still alive has a *shot* at the Cup. The Leafs have proven, first by beating Ottawa, then by starting to come back in this series, that they belong where they are. If the rest of the team can continue to bridge the gap between their play and Belfour's, they certainly are contenders. (I'll stick with my original call of Leafs in six, in this series - although it's looking shaky now.)

We shouldn't assign too much importance to single game results. That having been said, the Leafs took a big step last night.

I agree, great game.... but I see that Goober is trying to jinx us into losing.

:D
Am not.

Okay, maybe a little...

I'll be the first to give credit where credit is due, however.

They did play well. After the first two games I could see that the Leafs were being given more room to play by the Flyers then by the Sens. They came out flying in the 2nd period and never really looked back. I was surprised to see how the Flyers were loosing there cool. The momentum in the series may have just changed.

Well done Boys!

I agree with Ranger, one game dont make the whole playoffs.
The did outplay the Flyers for 2 out of the 3 games, however.

They proved Esche can be beaten and none of them were spectacular goals. Although I think he might be ready to pull a Lalime now I hope he doesn't because I think their best goalie is sitting on the bench.

The Leafs were outplayed in the first two games, but their skaters might have beaten their counterparts in two of the games, not just one. (Just to clarify.)

If Esche falters (no real evidence for that yet), they'll just go to Burke.

Game Four's going to be a tough battle for both teams.

Hey, Goober - I wouldn't want anyone thinking they're going to use my argument "against" me.
(As has already happened, from some of the more senseless Leaf-bashers in here. Oh, yeah, wait - you were one of them.)
Get over it.

Which games have you been watching??? The Leafs were NOT outplayed in the 2nd game but rather the other way around.

If they keep playing the way they have in the last 2 games then Philly can be beaten in 7 games.

I would love to see the Leafs win (2nd fav. team), and they did play well last night, but even if they make it past Philly they will never have young enough legs for 2 more rounds.

The Leafs can go all the way if they don't look to far ahead into who they could play next round or the finals. 11 more wins and they win the cup. A lot of work is left to be done. If I were Quinn i'd tell the leafs to just focus on game 4 Friday and take it from there. They will have to give their best to get past the Flyers and if sucessful will have to play even harder against the Habs or Lightening. Then in the finals it will be the toughest test as any one of the teams left in the West would be a challenge for the Leafs!

I won't get into this here.
You mean "the Leaf *skaters* weren't outplayed", because, as a team, the Leafs have only outplayed the Flyers in ONE game, the last one.
Please see my thread "Outplaying vs. Winning".

Veteran teams play better the further into the playoffs they get - teams with older players seem to lose *earlier* in the playoffs, rather than later.
Going deep into the playoffs won't be an issue for the Leafs, assuming they get past Philly, and assuming they don't suffer any MORE injuries.
