Funny how I didn't see them in Japan/Korea 2002 and also were not champs in Euro 2000.

Holland is undefeated in 23 FRIENDLY games.
Thats not counting qualifiers and tournament games.
A meaningless statistic, really.

I'm shocked at the Germany result.

I don't want o be your buddy :p

EURO 2004 odds as of April 29, 2004:

France 10/3
Italy 4/1
Portugal 7/1
Spain 7/1
England 8/1
Holland 9/1
Czech Republic 12/1
Germany 16/1
Sweden 25/1
Denmark 33/1
Greece 40/1
Russia 40/1
Bulgaria 66/1
Croatia 80/1
Switzerland 100/1
Latvia 500/1

How on earth can they rank Germany as low and England as high is beyond me. Portugal is also a little too high in 3rd place.

I can understand Portugal being high because playing at home is usually an advantage.
Germany is in tough in that group with Holland and Czeck Republic. I would be surprised to see them make it out of that one.

Home-field advantage , eh??? Maybe in the world Cup but much less so in euro tournaments. Let's see:

1988 Euro was held in Germany. Winner Holland
1992 Euro was held in Sweden. Winner Denmark
1996 Euro was held in England. Winner Germany
2000 Euro was held in Holland. Winner France

Doesnt look to me like home sweet home helped them a
whole lot.

you just showed how STUPID and IGNORANT the people making the odds are.

Good point on the homefield advantage Johnny. However, in all four of those tournaments the home countries made it to the semis and lost. I think that the oddsmakers are looking at Porugal having a good tournament. And once you're in the semis, anyone can win.
As far as Holland and the Czecks being after England, I see a bit of logic in it. Not because of England's strength but because the Czecks and Holland are in the same group as Germany. One of these 3 teams will not be in the QFs. On the other hand, England , on paper, "should" have an easier time getting out of their group.

You make a good point on the 3 countries of the group D but you're Portugal argument is poor because they rank their odds on who WINS the tournament and not on who makes the semi-finals or quarter-finals, as far as I know.
If I had to put money on it I would say Germany and Holland will advance out of their group and not Czecho.

Here's how I would rank them:

Italy
France
Spain
Holland
Germany
Czecho
Portugal
England
Sweden
Croatia
Denmark
Russia
Bulgaria
Greece
Switzerland
Latvia

Odds can vary from place to place. The source that I quoted was from SportingBet:

I havent checked Ladbrokes or some of the other bigger ones.

If I had Money, I would put it on 3 teams Only.

1. Ze French : After their WC2002, they have to save their Face and the fact that they did not play this week shows how bad they want no one to be injured.

2. Ze Dutch : They have a Good Defence, Good Goalie and Super Midfield and Strikers out of this worls

3. Portugal : They always perform poorly during these kind of Tournaments but this time, in front of their People, they will be Transcended.

I wouldn't bet a Dime on Spain or Italy.

Just MHO.
