Well looks like the Chargers did what the Grizzlies and Nordiques did. Draft a player that doesn't want to play for that team. San Diego drafted Eli Manning, but then traded him to the Giants for anothr QB, Philip Rivers, plus a 3rd rounder this year and the Giants 1st and 5th round picks next year. I think this a pretty damn good move by the Chargers. It sounds very reminiscent of the Flyers/Nordiques trade last decade.

Eli's coming!

As a longtime NY Giants fan, I am thrilled to see they got Eli Manning. Never been a huge Kerry Collins fan, and it will be interesting to see how long it takes for Manning to become the starter. But I also think the Chargers did well for themselves. Rivers is an excellent prospect, and they will hopefully do well with the additional draft picks. All the talk was what the Chargers would do, how they could maximize the value the could get for Manning, given he didn't want to sign with them, and I agree, they did well. History will determine the success or failure of this trade.

Sorry homonger. I didn't mean to imply that the Giants did well. In fact it sounds like the Chargers got a steal of a deal. The difference between 1st and 4th in the NFL is negligible, plus add the other draft choices the Chargers received this year and next make this a great move by them.

Draft

I agree the Chargers made out the best. All those draft picks for switching from 1st to 4th. I hate the Giants.

I meant the Chargers when I said that. I think they did very well given the corner Manning backed them into to. But I also think the Giants did what they had to do to get a franchise quality quarterback. There are obviously no guarantees, but Manning has as good a chance of being a successful NFL quarterback as anyone, if on nothing else, pedigree alone. As I said, history will be the determinator of "who got the better of this one".

And Mr. Polarbear, I am also looking forward to the Giants taking on the Bears, and am willing to lay a bet down with you right now. I really think you should let this "Dabears" stuff go. After all, 1986 was a really long time ago.

My Team had the second pick in the draft, and with all the talanted offensive players at Q.B. and wide reciever, and a particular T.E. not to mention a couple great Defensive backs, what does my team do...........They draft an Offensive lineman with the second pick , and then draft a Centre in the second round. After all we don't have a running back, we don't have a wide receiver under 40 years of age and we have an aging Q.B. comming off a bad and injury plauged season. Why am I not surprised after all this is the team that drafted a place kicker in the first round a few years ago. By the time the offensive line matures, The wide recievers and the quarterback will have retired, and they still won't have a running back cause they never drafted one.......hmmmmm so much for defense wins games But I still Bleed RAIDER Silver and Black

Go Flames!!!
u guys r not placing enough of an importance on a good/great o-line. if ur offense is to succeed u need two basics a) run the ball and b) pass protect. i know it's not the glamour positions but the raiders did very well to get gallery who is supposed to be one of the best o-linemen to come out in quite some time and jake grove was rated as the best center in the draft.
they got the fastest guy at the combine id rd 4 wr carlos francis. watchout f/ johnie morant wr rd 5, he was one of the top wr coming out of hs, but he just never developed in syracuse's system...
i have not given up hope on my raiders, don't you. frankly i am very surprised davis stayed away from the wr's and qb's available, only time will tell if this was the right move... maybe he has something cooking in the background.
