Game 5 is set for tonight at the ACC with both teams splitting their home games to tie the series at 2. This series is a very physical one with the wear and tear starting to show, particularly on the Maple Leafs.
The Leafs missed Newy in Game 4 and he is questionable for tonight. As is their captian Sundin and Tucker was hurt in the 3rd in last game.
The Senators were frustrated with Belfour stopping seemingly everything thrown at him in Games 2 and 3. The Senators finally broke through with a 4 goal performance in Game 4.

Clearly the Leafs players have to step up their game if they are to win this series. Will the Leafs respond? Will Sundin and Newy dress and/or contribute anything of significance? Who will be the hero for either team tonight? And more importantly, what will be the outcome to see which team will take control of the series for the important 3rd win to make the other team face elimination for game 6?

Btw - let's leave the flaming out of this thread and resort to some critical analysis both pre and post game.

last I heard, Neiuwendyk is supposedly playing...and Mats injury didnt look to be that bad so I gather he'll play...that being said, the Leafs can win if they avoid stupid penalties which they are apt to taking

I'm up in the air on who will win tonight, I think winner of this game definitely finishes the series off on Sunday night.

I also think this series is due for some OT action...

I think the Sens have the edge tonight, but in a game like this is just up to who wants it more.

Last I heard is that Neiuwendyk is playing and that maybe Sundin is not. There is talk that in his place Stajan may dress. But this is sketchy at best so this may be a game time descision.

Yeah sure, you'll leave the flaming for another thread instead!

Anyway, It's time for the Leafs to get the offence going!

Sundin and Mogilny are gonna light up Lalime.

Sens 2
Leafs 4

Where do you get your info from? geezzzz....
Domi already reported it to Howard Burgar ( heard of em? ) that Sundin was ready to play last game but doctors held him back because the game was practically done.

Both Sundin and Newy and including Tucker are ready to go!
Last time I checked, this was the PLAYOFFS no need for excuses and you gut it out!

BTW, here is another update for ya, NOLAN skating today for 15 minutes!

Well ive recently run into some health problems and havent really contributed any attention any HNL games including game 4 between the leafs and sens but i did hear what happend regarding Newy not attending, and matts having a possible injury.
The sens must have been all over the leafs in game 4 and im kind of pissed that i missed it, must have been a great game for the sens.

All i can predict from what ive been informed, if the leafs start pulling their famous non attendance deals, wether it be injury or for some other un-godly known reason, its gonna hurt the team bigtime. They need all the healthy players they can get during this time frame.

From this stand point the leafs may be able to pull ahead 3-2 in the series but they need to rack their heads and get back that team work ive seen in game 2 and 3. Hence if the leafs fall behind, they will have no other choice but to give it their all. Its what makes the game exciting.

I be-leaf they can do it! Lets get cup crazy..GO LEAFS GO!

Tonights prediction:

Leafs 2
Sens 1

Sundin has a sore ankle and may not even dress and Mogilny still hasn't shown up since returning in February. In light of that those are some bold predictions where the Leafs offence is comming from. Not saying it can't happen, but Alex hasn't shown anything yet that it could. I think if it is to come Roberts has to take the team on his shoulders.

I promised myself not to get excited about the playoffs until the second round. I have always felt that the 2 teams the Leafs had to avoid in the playoffs were Ottawa and Tampa. The Leafs take way too many penalties, and those 2 teams are 2 quick to be short handed against.

The Leafs haven't played with the intensity that is needed to win the series, and tonight we will find out if they have the heart to win.

I have also really started to lose respect for Quinn. I think the guy should stick to coaching all-stars, because he just lets the players play. They did not look like a well coached team in any of the games in the series, and when you see Domi on the power play, it makes me want to hurl. Stajan, Perrott, and Pilar all belong on the ice.

If the Leafs win tonight, by playing that type of game, where you can sense from the drop of the puck that they want it so bad, like game 6 against Philly of last year, then I will believe that they have the wherewithall to get it all done. Short of that, then it is just a matter of time when there will be another 25 guys trying to book the same tee time as me.

Once again, Sundin is playing! Newy is playing! Tucker also in!
In case you missed it, Mogilny missed a significant amount of time during the regular season and has stated that his HIP is not 100% and probably won't be for some time!
Let's see now, with that report you would think that his play is not what we have come to expect lately and he's doing his best!
Bottom line is the Leafs will win the series and all this talk about the Senaturds will be over with!

From the mapleleafs website : "Joe Nieuwendyk and Mats Sundin are both game-time decisions. " And yes I do know that Mogilny missed a good chunk of the season. That is why I brought it up to begin with. Injury or not, his play is not what it could be. Injuries aside, the games still go on and what counts are the stats. Johnny, I am not here to flame with you so take a chill pill.

3 hrs till the drop of the puck and still no word on the Leafs starting line up. The Senators look to be icing the same line up as Wednesday.

Im a Leaf fan but dont use Domi as a guide as to whether the guys are playing or not. Ive heard all day that nothing has been announced as of yet....i hope to hell they all play but nothing is official

Wow. Correction. New report has Joe in and Mats is out because of a hip injury. Stajan is on for Mats.

This year playoff for the Sens is different than previous years, they are willing to play rough with the Leafs. They are willing to pay the price, but I am not sure how much they will pay.

tonight game is not abou Eddie, is about how rough the Leafs can be, or how dirty the Leafs can be. for the Leafs to win Domi have to step up and do his trick.

the line for the game is Toronto -135
I'll take the Sens to win and gets +115 in return.

I predict the Sens score 2 or more. Leafs score 2 or less.

so I call i t a 3-2 Sens win to complete my hat trick

I just hope that the Senators don't come in to tonight's game overconfident with Sundin out. I mean 2 years ago it was the same thing and the Leafs came back to win the series. It doesn't look good for the Leafs right now but they have faced this type of situation before and have prevailed.
