Some of the most intense hockey I've been watching...

...has been the OHL variety...
They're down to the final four, but less than 700 showed up for the opener of the Mississauga-St. Michael's series Wednesday night. Yes, it was up against a Leafs' playoff game, but in a city of five-million, that's appalling. Too bad -- it's great hockey at about one-tenth the cost...

Excellent Games!

It was only Game 1 and 700 in that barn on St. Clair can seem like thousands anyway. I don't think I like the Junior tradition of alternating home and away though...I'd like to see a 2-2-1-1-1 set-up. Not that it really matters in this series. TV coverage has been great as well.

The Doctor - I am a fan of the Ice Dogs, which TV are you talking about because I don't see any of the games on TV?

I agree. I much prefer that set-up for hockey. And the O does adopt it if teams are far enough away (Erie vs. Sarnia in round one). But the 678 in game one is less than half of St. Mike's capacity, and it looked bad...

n_v - Rogers cable does Majors' home games and shows them in Toronto. Many other Rogers' outlets broadcast their team's games around the O. (London, Oshawa, etc). Unfortunately, some regions (like York, where I am) do not get any games. Rogers Sportsnet also broadcasts games provincially and nationally (like last night's London-Guelph O/T thriller...)

I think Sportsnet is going to be picking up a lot of the Majors/Ice Dogs series. Roger's Cable has been pretty good for the Majors in the Toronto area.

Rogers Cable use to broadcast alot more Ice Dogs game in my area but this year it has been slim pickings. I have yet to see a playoff game on the TV here in Mississauga. I just hope they do more games of the East Final.

I agree, the OHL provides great entertainment value. This is the first year I can remember in several that the Majors & 67's have not played in the EC final. We have been spoiled here in Ottawa.

It has been a nice little rivalry over the last few years especially when the Majors advertise the Senators on their website. However, if I'm not mistaken Barrrie and the Majors played in the 2002 EC finals to break up the Majors/67's run.

I noticed the Knights- Storm game last night. I would really like to see some of the Ice Dogs though. If it wasn't for the Senators series I would have caught a live game. Maybe in a few days I will when the Leafs are finally history ;).

You are correct. I thought there had been a year when they didn't. I think they have met 3 out of four times in recent years. I went to a 67's-Majors game at the Corel Centre this year. The Major's were the home team which was stange. A great move by Melnyk...they got four times as many people in attendence. They took the team pic at the CC & the Major's went to the Sens game the night before.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that London can rally back and win their series against Guelph. Having been drafted by London many years ago, I still have a special attachment to this team. Heck, I think the hunter boys have done a great job with this team! Kudos to Mark for being named OHL executive of the year!

Hey Goober, you taking in any of these games as the Labatt Centre?
