Impact on C-36 on agencies

Hi there, I thought I posted this but my internet cut off, don't know where my initial post went. So here's a copy of what I wrote.

Basically I want to know, in the light of C-36, what people think of going to big agencies (the favourites like TOE, Moonwaiting etc) because they collect your phone number and always text you with the room # and the buzz code when you arrive in the area. Wouldn't this be a huge risk in case LE decide to crack down on a whim and track down the phone numbers etc if they wanna send a message? They'd most likely hit the bigger agencies too.

I've used MW a few times in the past and would like to go again but am scared with this new law. Thoughts would be much appreciated.

I too have been wondering about this...From browsing this forum, to viewing the adverts, I see sanitized announcements, but full lineups of SPs, and full prices as before. It appears to be business as usual for the agencies, (which is great) but we will never know if their traffic is down as a result of C36.

Either there are many hobbyists that are unaware of C36, or they are just simply not worried about getting caught and take their chances.

It's entirely a personal decision that you have to make. If you feel confident enough from what you have heard about LE enforcement priorities, then you decide if you should partake again. If you say you are scared, then don't go. Not feeling relaxed and safe, and looking over your shoulder while enjoying the company of an SP would ruin the experience. And yes, if LE ever did decide to make sweeps of clients (like they are currently doing all over the US) we would be sitting ducks.

Unfortunately for me, getting caught, no matter how remote that may be, would be a life-ending event...The prospect of having my DNA entered into the sex crimes registry, and being considered a de-facto registered "sex offender" just for having visited an SP is the most despicable aspect of this government's legislation. Criminal records can eventually be expunged, but the DNA registry is more permanent. Think of how being known as a "sex offender" would affect your relationships, personal and family life, employment prospects, even finding a place to live. This is way worse than the old legislative environment, where the worst a client could face was the charge of being a "found-in" in a bawdy house, and outcalls were completely legal.

Relying upon the words of various local agencies and SP's, (with all due respect to them) who report they have some inside knowledge or had communications with individual members of LE while encouraging, is not enough for me to inspire confidence. SP's and agencies I am sure are honest and sincere, but they still have a business to protect and are in a conflict of interest in providing unbiased information. I need independent verification, such as from trusted news media sources, that LE will not be targeting customers. Perhaps if Premiere Wynn makes a statement to that effect, or sufficient time passes with no busts, I would feel confident. However I believe that just like in the old fable of the "Frog and the Scorpion", LE is what it is, and they will be doing their job. It's just that nobody knows when...

That's why I have put my hobby activities on hold indefinitely, and prefer just to sit back and watch to see how this all eventually unfolds. In the meantime, I have another date with the palm sisters...

My phone makes it very easy to "Delete Thread" of text messages, so no worries there.

And in some ways I look forward to going to court for having sex, it would be interesting to call Joy Smith, Peter Mackay and Steven Harper to testify on why they are so fascinated with what I do with my penis with another consenting adult.

Having sex - legal.
Giving money to another adult, for any reason - legal.
Giving money to another adult and having sex - illegal. Wait, what?!

...because your penis is a dangerous weapon! LMAO.

I get where you're coming from, but you would be arguing at cross purposes with them.

That's a good point Matt but what if it's not your phone....but rather the agency's phone that they look up?

lots of great feedback on this topic from everyone too. thanks. i guess i'm way too scared to dip my toes again. i don't know what would change that as the bill seems to be permanent now

Agency operators are facing 10 years in jail not a $500 fine. They have a lot more to lose then us and they don't seem all that worried.

and LE finding your number on a agency's contact list proves nothing. You could have called booked an sp and changed your mind, you could have called and only wanted to companionship, you could have called for all sorts of reasons. We can still call and talk to whoever we want.

and if your texts don't mention anything sexual how would they prove you paid for sex?

and if they wanted to bust agencies, they could have done it under the old laws.

They are using this law to go after the low hanging fruit they charged some woman in Hamilion because she was pimping out some teenaged girl and they nabbed another guy in Barrie who was involved in child prostitution. He is also facing child porn and drug charges. These are the types of people the cops really want.

And yes, if LE ever did decide to make sweeps of clients (like they are currently doing all over the US) we would be sitting ducks.
We were sitting ducks before to. and this isn't the US.

Well said. Plus enough public statement by local officials stating such .... that they will go after specific problem situations as before.

I am in agreement here. The stakes are high for anyone who may be eventually convicted of the obtaining sexual services of someone 18+. Ending up in the DNA database and Sex Offender Registry puts you with the worst criminals in society. Imagine knowing a co-worker was a just convicted and made an official Sex Offender...I would definitely break all contact wherever possible with that person.

When will Toronto Police come out with an official statement regarding C36 enforcement? Has anyone in the media asked TPS this question?

Well this is why you get a burner phone specific for hobbying.

Go to Seven Eleven and buy a new phone on a pay per minute with cash. That way it can't be traced to you. A small price to pay as an insurance policy.

Having said that I know agencies like Moonwaiting are being precautious and only serving regular clientele. And will take caution or not let people in if they don't recognize the number from their previous roster pre-c36.

Cheers

I thought people get burner phones for hobbying to hide the activity from their wife.

I don't see how agencies will only accept regular clients if they're not keeping records, and the hobbyist is using a new burner phone or an app that hides their identity. "Hi this is waynward I've booked with your agency many times in the past" - how would they know whether it's me or you.

This is a great direction to take. And smart. Cupid's took a different tack, as can be read on their FAQ page. Stayed with their core business and offering the same delightful companionship while operating within the law:
