Jeez, if players want to celebrate then let 'em I say. Sure it can be showing up the other team or poor sportsmanship but if they want to make an ass of themselves and motivate the other team the so be it. If they can continue to back up their antics with performance then at least they put their money where their mouth is so to speak.

And I admit I think it is great entertainment.

Is everything supposed to be scripted like the WWE? I have no problem with celebration in the game, but orchestrated and scripted scenarios that involoved several players is unnecessary. As well, anything that could be viewed as taunting or unsportsmanlike could continue to generate ill will and lead to more "payback" type incidents in the future.

The celebrations have gone hand in hand with the lack of respect playersd show for each other during the play of the game and can't be viewed as positive for anyone. If someone is watching a game solely for the celebrations and antics after a goal then the various professional sports need to address the entertainment value of their games.

What bothers me is how some players put far more effort into their celebrating and taunting then they do in the playing of the game. There has to be a balance.
Fans too.

Except the playing the game part.

I agree the Satan thing was no big deal. It was more about himself and trade rumours than mocking the opposition.

But I agree with Doc about showing a lack of respect and how it will lead to more playing field attacks due to ill will.

Another dumb one I hate is when you see an NFL game where 1 team is down a bunch with little time left and a DB on the losing side celebrates an interception as if it were a game saver. I guess it's better for your personal stats to look good than for the team to win.

I agree shack and fang are correct in my view. When you see a 10 yard run and tackle being celebrated by the linebacker who finally made a late and hard hit something is definitely wrong.
