http://vancouver.ca/news-calendar/city-response-to-passing-of-bill-c-36.aspx City of Vancouver Response to C-36. Notice in what they say they ARE GOING TO DO ...... & subtly saying will NOT DO.... Not enforce C-36 to rid Prostitution as the CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT vowed to do.

NOTICE the last paragraph

City urged the federal government to refer the proposed legislation to the Supreme Court

In submissions to the Federal Government, the City urged that the proposed legislation be referred to the Supreme Court to ensure its compliance with the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the spirit of the Bedford Decision: prioritizing the health, safety and dignity of those it’s declared to protect. The City also asked that there be consultation, which previously did not take place, with municipalities across the country on potential impacts.

Although across the Country Politicians are put in an awkward spot to slam the Federal Government ..... They know this Legislation is a Total Harper Sell Out to grab Financial support for Party Re-Election AND C-36 is Total crap!!

And the response from Harpo and the Cons......will be a brush off. I think I saw Victoria City Council had written the Senate asking them to vote against the Bill. Wonder about Edmonton too. Police have been very tolerant of massage parlors for years. One bust I'm sure will put them all out of business and all the mps into the street. Some interesting comments to on the same thread on PERB.

Yes I agree Montreal will likely be lax in enforcing this bill. The more opposition from wherever the better.

That is what other parties might have done but the C's saw it as a chance to implement part of their social conservative hidden agenda.

So Canadians have given the Reform Party a majority and very well may do it again next year. Moving closer to home, come bill C36, how will glaring differences between what goes on and is tolerated, enforced and licenced north and south of Steeles Avenue be exploited for political gain going into the federal election?

I was wondering why the federal government didn't consult with them before voting this bill, now that would make them look silly making laws tha provinces and municipalities refuse to enforce them. That would have been much better for their reputation if they say 'we proposed a bill but after consultation with provinces and municipalities, we decided not to move forward'
Because HARPER is a Self Righteous Christian Taliban & all he was looking for is to keep the Big Money coming in from the Extreemist special interest groups to support a strong Re-Election campaign for his Party

@ gent bent 2 (Post #11, 11-13-2014, 02:16 PM)

This may not be my business, but if you disagree with your employer, you leave, and not try to extort them (two wrongs don't make a right).

Having said that, I deplore any violence against you and women, and you have every right to report to the appropriate authorities whoever is inflicting pain on you or threatening your life. I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances.

Perhaps your post belongs in a ladies only forum? In any event, best of luck and health.

(My post here can be deleted by the mods if they wish. Not sure if post #11 is appropriate either.)

Why is get bent 2 posting in this thread about this??? It has no relation to the topic at hand. ALSO get Bent 2 just registered & posts this??? Sounds like someone just trying to get revenge on Toronto Girlfriends. NOT COOL. From what I have heard over time ( and Ron could be considered my competition .... as with other agencies ) I must say I never heard of him behaving in such crazy or violent fashion on anyone.

Now is the time to act. I have contacted my local government to encourage them to take a position like Vancouver's. I hope you will all do the same. Also contact your MPP.

I read a news article globe i think it was and it pretty much said that Toronto police won't enforce prostitution law. But the article was published in may or June this year.

In Montreal the MP business has grown hugely in the last 10 years. They have many high end MP's right in the heart of downtown, not shunted out into the ghettos like in Toronto.

On St Catherine's they have XXX MASSAGE NURU XXX neon red flashing signs everywhere now. St Catherine's is like their younge st.

Given c36's communication restrictions, it's a good thing Toronto body rub parlors are zoned far away from schools, playgrounds, etc. :)

My understanding is that this provision does not apply to indoor, since it is not open to public view. Now that I think of it I don't know if public place includes the inside of a public commerce such as a body rub parlor? The place is owned by someone, but it is open to the public.
