Well it's official now. Both Toronto & Ottawa are in the playoffs. Unfortunately if things stay the way they are now, Toronto & Ottawa will meet in the first round. While I eagerly anticipate a meeting of these two teams, I'd rather save it for second or third round. It's real shame that one of these two teams will knock the other one out in first round.

Oh heck, I may as well just say it ... it's a pity that Toronto will beat Ottawa in the first round. :D

So I'm kinda hoping that either Toronto or Ottawa will dislodge Boston and thus save the Battle of Ontario for a later round.

Congratulations Toronto for making the playoffs ... hehehe. Quick, name the only Canadian team to make the playoffs over the last 7 years. Answer, of course, Ottawa Senators. Another one. Name the Canadian team that was trounced by the Flyers last year in the first round (crushed 6-1 in the final game) and went off to swing their Calloways, their head hung low, their enforcer giving up on them and walking away in the heat of the battle. You took too long ! That was easy ! Toronto, of course. K one more. Name the Canadian team that whupped the Islanders in 5 games, blew the Flyers out of the water in 6 games (5-2, 5-1 in the last 2 games) and lost to the eventual Stanley Cup Champions in game 7 by 1 goal. OF COURSE, the OTTAWA SENATORS !!! .... hehehe.

Yes, in the conference finals, game 7 OT;

Leafs win: Lalime lets in a floater from the red line
Senators win: Alfredson scores on a breakaway

I still think Pansey spends WAY too much time on this "I hate toronto" obsession of his....

Mr Pansey: you fail to mention that Toronto consistantly knocks the sens out of the playoffs. Maybe you better hope that this battle for Ontario doesn't happen!!

I think you'll find that some who post on this board have a similar 'hate ottawa' obsession.

I a gree with xarir and hope that the battle of Ontario does happen at a later round. In fact I hope that all Canadian teams, especially in the East, do not meet in the first round. I think it would be great if the 3 Canadian teams take up the 4 spots of round 2. Meeting in round 1 just spoils the fun I think.

That was easy .. uh ... last year. You were eliminated in the first round by Philly who's ass we then went on to kick, followed by the Islanders and then we came within 1 goal of making it into the finals. Sweet ! Rack em up !

So using that logic, Jim, the Toronto Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup because New Jersey won it and then the Maple Leafs beat them.

When the Sens play the Leafs in the playoffs, they lose. Simple and to the point. This year is going to be GREAT. I don't think that there will be any teams steamrollering through the playoffs. I expect it to be tough and entertaining.

GO LEAFS GO! :p

And when was that ? Surely you're not referring to the year after in the regular season. That would be an idiotic statement.

Cnd-Guy if we follow this logic then Toronto hasn't won a meaningful game in 37 years!

interesting that this thread much like other threads i have seen in the past always seem to drum up previous years series and games!!! how about some good points on why we think our teams would win.
For instance...Toronto will win because of character and goaltending. Ottawa will win because they will be diving all over the ice in the hopes of powerplays and or sympathy from the refs. You see that these are two vaild points, who cares about previous years or games they have no bearing on the next few weeks!

ok ill try this again since your mind cant really get it...or doesnt want to. I asked when was the last time the SENS put the Leafs out of the playoffs themselves? following me yet? ill try another way...when the Leafs played the Senators in a playoff series....say it slowly....and the outcome of that playoff series was that the Senators beat the Leafs. therefore eliminating the Leafs from the playoffs directly. NOT anyone else beating the Leafs for the Sens. Really there is no prize for second place so all you can brag about is who beat who head to head and well the Leafs beat the sens every time. Sorry but there it is. Hope you understood this time Pansey..try to reword it if you want

It matters so little who beats who in the East as the Detroit Red Wings will be waiting patiently to show them what a real hockey team looks like...

embarrassing loss to the Ducks last night aside... :)
