Canadians can now play the Australian National Lottery on the Lottery website (which is sponsored by Government). You don't have to be a resident of Australia to play. The Australian lottery winnings are not taxed in Australia. However, on their website they say non-residents may have to pay tax on the winnings in their home country. Are there any tax accountants out there who know whether or not I will have to pay Canadian tax on my Australian Lottery winnings, in the unlikely event that I win a large sum.
