Down Town Hotel with Day Rates?

M

MrEasy

A ladyfriend and I have decided to play hooky one day next week and meet up for some fun.

Seeming we are both married, a hotel will have to be the venue of choice.

Can anyone recommend a down town hotel that has day or afternoon rates?
Would like to check in around noon or so and be out by 6.

First time doing this, so any suggestions are most welcome!
Thanx.

Ladies and gentlemen, please....

....do you have any idea just how bad the hotel trade is these days? Trust me, there isn't a hotel in Toronto that won't quote you a day rate for a standard room, but only if you go about it the right way. The only reason they might not is you're being too obvious about your intended purpose and/or you're sounding nervous and unsure of yourself. Perhaps I have an advantage having been in business for many years. I will call up a hotel and say "I require a day room for Thursday, January 24th - what is your current rate please"? Don't give them an opening by saying "Ah, excuse me but do you rent out day rooms"? Business people use them all the time, usually for a discrete but legitimate meeting or interview and hotels are quite happy for the revenue as they assume they can quickly put the room back in order and double dip on the rate.

Have fun...!

Next to the money pit.
Strathcona vistor

I have had many stayed at the Strathcona. Some were overnight others were over the day during these three years.

The conditions of the rooms varys. The rooms with the two single beds are the worst. ie Limited space in the room.

The average is the rooms with the double size bed.

The best are the rooms with a desk which you can hook up your laptop. Those rooms have a double size bed with a very nice mirror with a wooden frame around it. These rooms have a coffee maker in them. Ask for rooms on the (11th floor).

As for the script.

You: One day rate room.

Hotel Staff (HS): One or two person?

You: Two, checking out at 5:30.

HS:Would that be on your credit card?

You: No, cash.

HS: May I see some ID's?

You:Show ID (and pay the price +12% tax and $20 deposit for day rate.)

You: Fill the form provided for name and address.

HS: Gives you the card to your room.

You: Smile as you walk to the elevator for your session.

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone.

Made some enquiries of my own:

Courtyard Marriott down town did not have day rates, Eaton Centre and Skydome Marriotts do. $95, 8 till 6.

Strathcona not taking advance bookings, only on the day of. $65, 8 till 5.

Days Inn on Carlton, $49, 9 till 6.

Hope this helps some other TERBites.

I'm set for this week! :D
