I'm considering to start playing proline, a good buddy of mine has always had the same picks as me and he always wins every once every 2-3 weeks, last weekend he won $750 off 7 games. How many hobbyists play proline? If so what was the most you won and how much do you usually bet?

Proline is for suckers. If you want to make money then either get a bookie or open an offshore online account. Parlays are going to kill your odds of winning.

Even if you are just casually betting and betting minimal amounts just use a reputable betting site.

Easier to bet, get some bonus money, and win more when you get the games right. Bonus money can fund a casual better for a while. Only issue is if you get addicted.

And if your goal is to make money and betting a lot (sucker) then pro line will just suck you out quicker.

Either way -- hardcore or casual, no point in using pro line.

I won the proline football pool last week but only won $250. The previous week someone won over 380,000 dollar.

I just ran the same parlay on a betting site with a spread of -3.5 for the winners above (note Dallas had to win by 6 as no lines were available below that), and it paid out 30.64 times the wager. On a $5 bet you win $153 rather than the $83 that proline would pay out.

I tried to estimate what the odds would be if Dallas was at -3.5... it would be around 1.20 based on how the value was declining from -10 to -6. In that case the payout would still be around 26. So you win $130 rather than $83.

I think many hardcore gamblers do not like parlays... but if your going to do it, why do it for basically 35% less payout? I am a casual better like yourself.. basically looking to have fun, and looking to break even.

Sometimes it is the convenience aspect. If he wins, he goes to his local retailer and collects his winnings.

Not too sure how the Indy/Houston game will go and the Jets may bounce back (NO has not been great on the road, beating TB by a couple of points and losing to NE). The KC odds look good, especially if Buffalo is going with a third stringer at QB.

Pitts (+7.5) may play NE close, Seattle (-17) should crush TB at home and the Bears (+11) may be up for the Monday night tilt at GB.

The pools last week had a ton of winners with the majority of favorites winning outright. I wonder how many winners there would been if the Rams had beaten the Seahawks on Monday?

Very casual sports better. Just makes watching the games more interesting. For the most part I pick 6 favorites and win 6 or 7 weeks out of the season. I never bet more than 100 total in one week and the wins are between 400-1500.

Good luck guys.

You got smoked! I had a winning ticket except for Baltimore. Fuckin' ravens. Couldn't even win, let alone by 3.

You are right. Cards are good at home and Houston has stumbled every time they have the lead.
Some other games that look interesting...

* GB -2.5: Rodgers may be out, but the Pack is at home and chances are the D may step it up a notch. Philly had a big game last week, time for reality

* Buf +3.5: If Manuel plays, I like their chances against a Steeler team that for the first time in years, has a weak, aged defense

* Oak +8.5: The Raiders had a bad game last week, expect them to bounce back against a Giants team that shouldn't be favored by over a TD

* Sea -6.5: The Seahawks took last week off against TB. I think they will get their game back in Atlanta and win big

Good luck

Comments on other games today...

* Bal +2.5: Cincy not as dominant on the road and the Ravens play well at home.

* SF -7: The Panthers have not beat any good teams and SF is coming off a bye

* Den -8: Denver coming off the bye and playing one for the coach

I only use Proline to bet on UEFA.

Honestly, I don't know where the Proline guys get their odds from but they are seriously skewed.

They have a terrible bottom-of-the-table team listed as the favorite over one in a Champion League spot! Therefore, the odds are always in my favor.

I usually put down $100.00 every weekend on a three team parlay. Usually wins. They still do EPL but have stopped listing LA LIGA. The first round of Champions league is always the best for this hobby though.
