Go offshore or get a bookie. Proline is for prosuckers.
The "Pools" option (where you pick the winner of each game straight up) could be run by anyone. Granted the government keeps half the pot, but not a bad payoff for the investment of $5.

Not too sure if the odds better than the 649 or super seven though....

Last week's pool size was almost 600k. There was 11 people won with a little more than 58k each. My best result was 12/15 on a $80 investment:eyebrows:
My upset picks for this week are DAL,TEN,TB,ARZ and NYG.

The books offer 2.6 x wager for 2 tm parlay, 6 x for 3 tm. Proline offers shit.
True. Pro-line does offer lines that vary (at times a fair amount) with the books, so some value can be found.

I've played both.

I stay away from bookies at all costs. My best friend was forced to sell his house to pay off his debts with a bookie a few years ago. Now,he lives with his parents and continues to play..with proline instead...lol

I have seen some of those guys winning other Pools in the past (winners of prizes more than $1K have names published on the OLG site).

I believe those guys box a lot of games. You don't win this kind of Pools repeatedly if you don't know what you are doing.

If you can get a group of people to play together, it makes it easier on the wallet when it comes to boxing games. The max ticket is going to cost you $80 to box 4 games.

Generally I will box one or two games and hope for the best.

I try to box a long shot - Example would be the Titans last week (or the Bills/Colts even though they won, it was close). Sometimes I'll box a game that is too close to call.

If the majority of favorites come through, you will win, but the prize is small due to the amount of winners.

I have won a couple of times with small pots. The closest I came with a large pot was 15/16. The loss I had was an OT game in which the favorite won (I had picked the dog). Had that game come through...

With pro-line you can get value on games early in the week (I think they post games on Wed). They adjust the odds closer to game time, but lots of times those changes can make a big difference. Moving a spread from 2.5 to 3.5, or 6.5 to 7.5 is a big change because it crosses a major score outcome. Example from yesterday = Colts were favored by 3.5 and today they 2.5; Falcons were favored 7.5 and today it is 5.5.

Stats show 15% of games end with a 3 point margin of victory, 10% end with 7 points, 6% with 10 points...

The "Tie" option is good because 22% of games end with a margin of victory between 1 and 3. When there are a lot of close games in a given week (5 this week), then you sometimes have a shot at fluking out a win with some pretty good odds.

I've lost considerable amounts on pro line over the years, it's just a suckers bet.

My 3 best bets for week 2 (well the Jets were one of them so 3 others)

KC -3 over Dallas. KC is a tough stadium to play in and this is their home opener. Combined with injury to Dez Bryant and a weak secondary, Dallas will be challenged to put up a win here. Could push.

Vikings +6 at Bears. Divisional matchup and rainy weather mean lots of AP touches. Should keep it close.

Houston -8 vs Tennessee. The Titans are nowhere in the same class as the Texans and at home Houston rules. They will probably win by 2 TD's.

I play in a point spread pool nothing big weekly payouts for best performer of the week and best overall points at the end of the season.

I typically make my money back plus a few bucks on top.

I also do suicide pools. Although, thanks to the Steelers I was knocked out in week 1. The other suicide pool I am still in it.

After doing this for years I find that the biggest reward is that it makes me interested in all the games and I can sit and watch the Cards play the Bengals and still be into it.

If you want to make money take all your gambling money and put it in GICs. Not exciting but guaranteed to come out in the black. :)

BTW I have a friend who has picked dogs every week and last year he finished second. This year he is averaging 8 wins per week. Which is actually pretty close to what you have to average to win the year end prize.

I am trying to understand NFL pool pick’em I am in with my cousins and brothers.

For example: what does the following mean:

Away Home
KC Philly (-3.5)

Is this correct: If I pick Philly it means they have to win my more than 4 points? OR If I pick KC they either have to win outright or lose by less than 3?

I am confused also when the number is positive or negative.

…help! Lol!
Your assumption is correct if u picked Philly then they have to win by more than 3.5 points. Plus(+) sign next to the number means the other team gives you the points. Your 'underdog' team just need to win outright or lose less than the given points in order to win the 'spread'.
For example,in week 3 I am playing the following NFL teams with point spreads posted next to them.
NY Giants -1.5
GB -3.0
STL +4.0
MIN -5.5
ARZ +8.5

Have fun!

But just looking at KC vs Philly (-3.5) - how do I know who the fav and who the underdog is in any given game?
Minus means they are favorite and they start the game by giving the underdog points. If Phily -3.0,then they are favorite to win over KC by more than 3 points! Or, it called a push if phily won by only 3 pts.
