Hope they put more effort into finding the winner. It would be a pity if the $50M is returned to the government.
Isn't it a requirement for all Lotto vendors to have a camera and keep the tapes for 1 year ? I thought that was an OLG requirement i order to have a terminal.

good grief.

Who the fack plays the lottery and doesn't check their tickets?
My father for one. He made a $3,000,000 lotto 649 lapse because he didn't check his ticket. My mother found it 17 months later. He bought it to make change for the TTC. Played once in his life, won and didn't claim in time. I do believe it was the start of my parent's divorce. They divorced 3 years later. My mom was obsessed with that ticket and lost respect for my dad. Money hungry bitch.

The Lotto Commission should do a better job of looking for winners. Btw bretthart, regarding security cameras, one of my local lotto vendors does not have a security camera.

The incident with my father was mid 80s. Lotto was a disaster back then.

I thought under the current security regulations each vendor had to have a camera and retain tapes for a year?? Weird. But yeah I guess many places don't have cameras.

You would not believe how bitter my mother was about it. She would literally turn black when she talked about it. I don't recall one day that she didn't' mention it to my dad. Weird thing is the greedy botch took it 1000x worse than my dad did. I wish I still had the ticket.I would bury her with it so she can take it to hell with her

Olg is planning a manhunt to find the winner as this ticket is going to expire at the end of November 2013. See here

Yeah right. The OLG is in it to win. They been winning a lot lately since they changed the Lotto 649 to $3 too.

With nobody winning the big jackpot as often as before and the jackpot climbing for weeks just having to pay out small prizes and the guaranteed million.

Lotto Max and 649 are their 2 cash cows. Looks like they are set to cash in again.

I have left tickets unchecked in the past and only noticed after the expiry.

I don't bother to check them if the date has past, I just throw it out.

You would probably know best, but I think that's a little harsh. $3,000,000 is a life-changer. I think a lot of people would have trouble accepting the loss of a near-fortune through negligence.

how exactly are they searching for the winner? I'm from the area, I buy tickets, they haven't called me to see if I have the ticket.
