I'm totally freaking out, I'm THAT excited!!

Does anyone know if it's a great idea to take a 4 year old? I went to the Engagement at the 40 reenactment last weekend in Grimsby and the poor kidlet was bored to tears despite the action. I was asked "can we leave?" 500 times.

I don't know... the Warplane Heritage Museum was a hit, but I think it was the 4 trips to the simulator. Oh- plus the 45 min spent in the old cockpit with all the amusing switches and whatnot. Kidlet wasn't all that excited by seeing the first warplane of the season take off. Darn kids are hard to impress these days...

I don't think my kids would really have appreciated that when they were 4...maybe 10 or so! Four year olds don't have long attention spans so a place with lots of different activities is usually better than one with only one main thing going on (planes or re-enactments)

Happened to be down in the Hammer today at a friend's place in the afternoon ... so cool to see and hear the Lancaster fly over!

I went for one of the paid flights on the Lancaster. Very expensive but a once in a lifetime experience. One of the striking impressions was the size of the plane. Really big and the drone of those engines, wow. Some of my motivation was an uncle in the RAF during WW2. He was shot down and died over Germany.

How much was it and how many passengers?
Was it at the airshow?

No, not at the air show. It is like a private "rental". It was 2,000 but I believe it is now 2,500 and you have to take out a sort of membership. I treated a WW2 vet and in our own different ways it was an experience for the ages. He had seen them flying in anger as teen infantryman in service. This might help you:
