I have a black Xbox 360 controller and I sometimes get confused about which button does what (I'm not that much of a gamer) because the labels are very difficult to see (impossible in the dark).
So I took a white crayon and coloured in the label markings. It's a little messy but you then wipe away the excess with a cloth and, Voila!, you have highly visible button labels that look like they came out of the box that way.
I was impressed at how well they turned out but we'll see if controller use wears the markings away.
