Ramada Coral Resort in Niagara Falls

Ramada Coral Resort in Niagara Falls

Quite nice and handy location away from the tourist mess and all the construction closer to the Falls.

It certainly isn't as nice as the Sheraton in Hamilton with their big "divine" beds, here I am feet stick out beyond the bed since I'm 6-2 but comfortable and I think these regular beds are better for being with an escort than the big fluffy ones at Sheridan unless you just want to cuddle all the time!

I am paying a lot more in NF $CDN71/weekdays for far less quality than at the Sheridan Hamilton $CDN55. But the Sheridan was via Priceline (normally way over $100) and there are no hotels in Niagara Falls that participate with Priceline. Seems they don't need to have the discounted rates since the quality hotels are plenty busy. In NF the rate is well over $100 on the weekends. Those darn tourists! I looked hard at many hotel options and this one seemed to have the best price for the quality along Lundy handy location. I very much do not want to be downtown will all the traffic like I was at the Hamilton-Sheridan.

I like being on ground floor and car just 30 seconds away vs long walk to underground garage and pay extra $7.95/day just to use the garage in downtown Hamilton. So here I pay more for less quality but far more practical location.

Now the Internet connection on the other hand... very slow. At my favorite hotel in Mississauga (Radisson) where I only paid $US37, their high speed connection is free, at the Sheridan Hamilton I had to pay an extra $14.95/day but both were outstanding connections even faster than by cable at home.

But here at the Ramada only dial up, can only connect at 24.6kbps and everything takes forever to come up. I assume it is because this is an older area with old phone lines since I can usually get about 48k+ connections from my laptop dial up in most U.S. cities. Getting mail -its coming in about 3-6k. When I first connected, I was about to give up with mail coming in at 300-600 cps....that is without the k. Reminded me of the old days when 300cps was standard and newsgroups used packet readers. It seems after a few hours the speed increased but never more than about 3000-6000 cps maybe after some router gets going... I am too use to mbps speeds not k's or below! i can get some reading done as web pages load its so slow.

I am tempted to try another provider.. but doubt if it would make a difference, assuming its the rusty old phone lines in the ground that are the problem. I am connecting via a St Catherines phone number (local call I'm told, it better be) using surfbest.net which I've used for years as my traveling option since it has lines all over Canada besides the U.S. I've had slow connections in old parts of U.S. cities before but this is the worst I've had.

On the plus side the phone connector has a duplex jack so easy to plug in laptop modem, and has good voice messaging which is handy since I tie up the single phone line being on the Internet so long. Local calls are 50 cents so I stay connected many hours at a time.

Back to the Ramada - has a couple nice restaurants connected, front desk has been very helpful and friendly and since I am a very late night person often not going to bed till 4-5am, and so sleep till about 1pm no problem getting afternoon maid service.

For the value vs other NF options it seems ideal, older but OK room, ideal location my biggest issue is the slow Internet connection.

Dave Priceline does have hotels in Niagara Falls, where you are staying, Lundy's Lane, you are correct, they do not participate in Priceline. com
I've always stayed at the Rennasaince hotel, I booked it over the weekend in Aug (right in the middle of tourist season) for $80.00US a night - downtown, but still far enough away from the main tourist traps (but right in the middle of construction).
They did charge me $12CAN a day parking, but when I stayed there before in the spring (booked $74.00 a day through Orbitz.com) they didn't charge me for parking since it was some sort of package deal.

Thanks for info...

I had checked Priceline when booking this trip and there was nothing. I just now checked for a mid-week in Novermber and nothing in Niagara Falls Canada, just NF New York and Buffalo.

WAIT..HOLD IT...I tried St Catarine's and it let me choose Canada instead of the U.S...and low and be hold... there are two Niagara Falls areas West along Lundy and in the Falls area....

But have no idea which hotels they are since none listed on biddingfortravel.com, other than of course Rennasanice you got.

I may have to try it next trip. I desperately need a high speed Internet connection the dial up here averages 11k! I talked with a computer place near here, and they have cable connection but none of the hotels seem to be connected. It seems clear its the old probably rusted phone lines in the street that makes the connection so slow since this is an older area.

I FOUND IT !!!
Geeze... all the Niagara Falls Canada hotels on priceline are listed in the Buffalo New York section below the New York listings on biddingfortravel.com. But looks like these hotels are priceline participants:

Niagara Falls (Ontario,Canada)
4 Star
Niagara Falls Marriott Fallsview LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
3 Star
Sheraton Fallsview Hotel and Conference Center
Renaissance Fallsview LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
Hilton Fallsview
Radisson Hotel & Suites LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
Sheraton on the Falls LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW
2.5 Star
Courtyard Niagara Falls
1 Star
Quality Inn
St. Catherine's - Thorold
2.5 Star
Four Points by Sheraton
2 Star
Comfort Inn LINK TO HOTEL REVIEW

And some of the upscale hotels are about the same as what I am paying here. I hate big hotels in tourist area, with underground parking and lots of traffic.. but .... might be worth it, especially if they have a high speed Internet connection. Will consider next trip.

Way Out West
I stayed at the renaissance...

This weekend. I was doing a fantasy weekend thing, so I booked a high priced Jacuzzi suite. Normally I would not not do this, but I wanted to start my "hobbying" with a bang (sorry, pun intended here). Despite the construction it was not too bad.

My biggest complaint was that I asked for a high speed internet access room, which was advertised, but I did not get.

The other thing was I was going to exchange money at the hotel, but they couldn't handle very much as it was a holiday weekend.

They have free shuttle service to the Casino, so I went there and exchanged money, and I also won $50 on the slots.

Everything else about the Renaissance was great. As I already stated I planned to spend too much, but I wanted a particular weekend.

Once the new Casino is done, it will be extremely convienent as the new casino is directly accross the street.

Next time I will choose a less price hotel, but I will still find one with a jacuzzi suite...

And I'll be looking for a hotel with that high speed Internet connection! They do have optics cable downtown I hope. Will all the streets being dug up I hope their is some fiber down there.
