NP.Really appreciate it, djk!
And if you want to go that route, I'd sell naked puts to acquire the stock even cheaper. You got a $100k to put down? buy facebook stock in May when it goes public!
Good points. Recently myself and someone else were looking at franchises. I didn't do much research, but holy cow, these things look tricky. Basically they want a LOT OF MONEY up front and they are willing to finanance about 75% of it for you. I got a few examples from my friend, and found out that if you worked at the franchise and did not hire a manager (because you were the manager), then after tax you could take in about 200K personal income before tax. That's the good news. The bad news it takes about 450K to get into this franchise and you will most likely have to borrow 300K because you have to put 150K down. Now with a pre tax income of 200K, I assume the MAX you could put into the principle on the 300K loan is about 100K / year. That's going to take 3 years before you even break even. At that point, you may have to renovate the place, and that's probably another 200K investment. So, now you need another 2 years before you break even. My friend just got hung up on the 200K salary, which isn't bad. However, if you look at the investment you have to initially do, and then investments after that, then it doesn't look so good. I'm not saying all franchises are bad, I'm just saying this is tricky stuff.$400k for a f@cken yogurt franchise are you nuts? You're gonna lose your shirt!
I would stay away from it,look at something else, take your time do your homework.
$100k buys you a nice spa, where you can make $12k-$20k a month cash in your pocket, without the stupid
royalties every month and other bullshit of owning a franchise.Cheap rent too I pay $1300/month,do you know what the rents are like in malls? mrs.fields in the eaton centre pays $19k a month rent/tmi , thats a lot of cookies!
A yogurt stand will easily be $6-$12k a month, waste of time and stressful thinking of how to pay the rent every month, selling yogurt. You got a $100k to put down? buy facebook stock in May when it goes public!
If you are willing to put in long hours and work almost every day, there are less risky and less stressful ways to gross 200K. And if you invested that initial money, and kept investing, you would have a massive retirement nest egg. Working for the man has it's advantages. The majority of the time, owning your own business is overrated for the stress and risk to get that extra money I think.Good points. Recently myself and someone else were looking at franchises.
