MONTREAL!!!
I was wondering how the baccarat tables are like in casinos like Casino Rama and the casinos in Niagara Falls. I am inquiring is because I hate the bac tables at Casino de Montreal. At the government owned casino in Montreal you don't "own" your spot when you sit down in your seat. Other folks can jump in and bet on your spot which I find truly annoying. Does this happen at the Ontario area casinos? I mostly play in Vegas and Foxwoods in CT.

At Rama if someone wants to piggy back on your bet they can, if you will accept their bet and place it. It is very common at mini-bac but much less common in full bac. Total bet cannot exceed the table limit. It can be a real pain trying to keep up with the commissions and sometimes the languages.

I hate to break it to you but the Baccarat scene in both rama & fallsview are pretty much similar. on a slow day, you'd be fine but on a weekend or whatever busy day they have. piggyback is unavoidable. but my question really is...why is there so many Chinese or Chinese-looking people in these tables? I've played bacarrat at edmonton (never-again) and I only go to poker tables now or maybe roullette or some BJ's.(no pun).

I didn't notice very much piggybacking at the Blue Heron in Port Perry, considerably less than Rama. Mini only.

Baccarat is really big in Macao (one hour from Hong Kong, ferry running every 15-30-60 minutes - HK itself has no licensed casinos). In the days before Stanley Ho's decades' long monopoly under Portugese rule was broken by new licences (to Sands, Venetian, MGM Grand, Wynn, Galaxy, Melco Crown, and many others) after handover to China, control of VIP rooms in his individual casinos used to be the stuff of Triad gang warfare. Junket network operators linked to the underworld would scout around for high rollers to these VIP rooms, be paid a commission and be responsible for the credit of these high rollers (financing, including loan sharking, and collections). Armed guards would stand outside these VIP rooms and prevent ordinary mortals even from looking inside. What was played inside them? Mainly Baccarat. Googling 'Broken Tooth Macau' will bring forth some interesting stories.

The Macao scene after 1999 has fundamentally changed after the licensing of foreign casino operators and the arrival of mainland China visitors in huge numbers now (revenues exceed those of Vegas + Atlantic City), but some things remain old wine in new bottle as seen in this (at least to me) fascinating story: http://www.theage.com.au/business/hard-men-reign-in-packers-dream-city-20090921-fym8.html from 2009. 'Baccarat' has been mentioned quite a few times, more interestingly further down. The Chinese, whether from Hong Kong or the mainland, have great fascination for that game (more so than with Pai Gow and Big Small) Which largely explains the crowds around those tables in Ontario casinos.
