Got a call the other day from a reputable company I have a line of credit with. The payments come out monthly and I thought all was good. Apparently a payment was missed last year. I checked my bank records and I did miss a payment back in June. So I've been barely paying any principal and getting stung with a $40 every month since. However the actual amount of the payments barely went up. I guess I just didn't notice which was my fault.
My question is are these people so ethically bankrupt they cannot take 2 months payment the next month to put it back on track and avoid the monthly penalties?
I've moved since I took the line out and genuinely cannot remember if I gave them my new address and number or not. They said they had tried to call me before at my current number and were evasive when I asked how they got that new number. They didn't have a new address linked to it which I thought was odd.
OK rant over. Just seems like a money grab to me, especially as apart from 1 payment in approx 3 years all has been good.
