Hyperdynamics on Yahoo Finance

The stocks really been moving the last month. From what ive read, they plan on drilling 3 wells and have 3D independent surveys that estimate 2.3 billion barrels of oil. They now have a CEO with an Oil industry background who seems to be steering the company in the right direction. Might be worth passing on a couple of girls and grabbing a couple hundred shares now...to pay for your hobby later down the line. I stumbled across this this two weeks ago while looking at yahoo's list of biggest gainers. Bought me a bunch and like the direction its heading. If anyone makes a killing on this stock, please remember old Breadman put you onto it...and send a girl my way:cool:

Oil sure isn't going down anytime soon...and not many oil companys out there selling for 6 bucks. I bought more with a buy order that went thru this morning.

4 Stock Ideas for This Market

This week, I started with the Momentum Small Caps preset search in MyStockFinder (http://MyStockFinder.com), but added Micro along with Small Caps. Here are four intriguing stock ideas worth investigating. Each has been on quite a roll and carries a Strong Buy in the Sabrient Ratings Algorithm.

AXT, Inc. (AXTI) – Techology
Hyperdynamics (HDY) – Energy
ADA-ES, Inc. (ADES) – Basic Industries
Casella Waste Systems (CWST) – Capital Goods
Some key points...
Hyperdynamics Corp. said Thursday that it had sold about $30 million worth of its common shares to investment management powerhouse Blackrock Inc., sending its stock sharply higher.

The Houston-based exploration and production company (NYSE AMEX: HDY), which holds the license on and a 77-percent stake in a nearly 1,000-square-mile expanse off the coast of the West African nation of Guinea, sold 12 million shares to the New York City-based investment firm for $2 apiece. That means Blackrock (NYSE: BLK), which had nearly $3.5 trillion worth of assets under management as of Sept. 30, will own about 12 percent of Hyperdnamics.

Proceeds from the sale will go toward drilling operations off the Guinea coast, which are set to begin in late 2011, according to a news release announcing the deal.
The quote above is a bit misleading, if not incorrect...they have drilling rights for 9,650 square miles.

HOUSTON, Nov. 29, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyperdynamics Corporation (NYSE Amex: HDY) today announced that it signed a contract with AGR Peak Well Management Limited, based in Aberdeen, Scotland, to manage its exploration drilling project offshore the Republic of Guinea.

AGR will handle well construction project management services, including logistics, tendering for materials and services, as well as overall management responsibilities for the drilling program. Initial exploration drilling is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2011.

AGR was selected following a competitive technical and commercial review. "We are very pleased at the response we received from several world-class companies to manage our drilling project," said Ray Leonard, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyperdynamics. "AGR was chosen due to their extensive experience in West Africa and proven ability to manage projects of this scope and magnitude in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner."
HOUSTON, Dec. 16, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyperdynamics Corporation (NYSE Amex: HDY) today announced that it signed a non binding Letter of Intent with a large independent oil and gas company and is in a period of exclusive negotiations until January 27, 2011, unless the parties agree otherwise, for a farmout of a portion of its interest in its concession offshore Guinea.
Breakout year??

Drill, baby, drill!
Oil explorer Hyperdynamics continues to push back against the notion it's a fly-by-night operation. Not only has investment management firm BlackRock taken a 12% stake in the company, but it's entered into an agreement with a project manager that will handle its exploration drilling project off the coast of the Republic of Guinea (where it owns three-quarters of a 9,600-square-mile concession) but has signed a nonbinding letter of intent with a large independent oil and gas company for a farmout of a portion of its interest in the concession.

Additionally, the settlement of an outstanding lawsuit from 2001 means the company can focus without distraction its efforts on the drilling program expected to begin later this year.

While highly rated CAPS All-Star TMFUltraLong reiterates his contention there's nothing new under the sun for Hyperdynamics, richinaustin says 2011 will be the breakout year for the oil explorer: "I have been on this stock for years I think finally it might break out. I have been accumulating and dollar-cost averaging for 3+Years."

You can follow along with Hyperdynamics promise by adding the stock to your watchlist and having all the Foolish news and analysis gathered together for you in one place.

No shit!

Unless I'm wrong, I bought this stock back in 2003 and sold it in 2005, making a nice little profit. Never got close to $6 though...

I forget where I put the money after that, but I eventually put it into Genworth Financial (GNW) when it was going for 80 cents, and sold it a year later when it was going for $15, so no regrets there.
