Ok heres my rant i spend 30 dollars a day on daily games, pick 3,pick 4, keno and poker. So when i play poker i buy 4 tickets at once, all on separate slips. I usually win at least once outta the 4 tickets. It never fails that 4 out of 5 retailers start hounding me to sign my ticket and cash it in right away. When i tell them i dont wanna cash it in, they give me attitude and start telling me that i have to.I have a year to cash them in, i have a box of winning poker tickets just sitting around, i use them between paydays when im a little short on cash.

I buy tickets at different stores across Durham region. Today i got my ticket at a Macs Milk, and the clerk screwed up half my tickets. When i politely asked him to cancel my tickets he goes off on me, saying if i didnt like the quick pick numbers i should pick my own next time. The problem wasnt the numbers, i asked for 2 boards of pick 3, 3 boards of pick 4, and he gave me 2 draws and 3 draws, not what i asked for.

He reluctantly cancelled the tickets and i made him do them right, when he was done there was a line behind me, but if he did them right the 1st time there wouldnt be a problem. Lastly as i was leaving he says to the next customer that i was ignorant and should have respect for my elders.

I am phoning the store manager in the morning, to complain, and i am writing a complaint to the OLG.

Just wanted to get this off my chest.

If you spend $30 a day on lottery tickets and you are a little short on cash between paydays you may want to very accurately examine how much that little hobby is costing you and re-evaluate your gambling
You can tell me to mind my own business, however, I know a friend who got into huge debt problems over a couple of years playing the lotteries.
He would win a few bucks now and then, but spent way more than he won.
He almost lost his marriage over gambling

Unless your winnings exceed $11,000 per year ($30 *365 = $10,950) you are throwing your $ away
However I guess someone has to feed the lottery machine and support the governments excess spending

I'm the guy standing behind you waiting to buy a loaf of bread. I could have stayed home and baked it faster. Please get the hell out of line and go to a fucking casino.

bummer! yes I often hate dealing with lottery clerks too...most are cool, but some give attitude, or are slow as dirt scanning playslips, or do not seem to know how to work the terminal...so many times I limit myself to one or two playslips or just walk away some the person behind me can drop $50 on the gas pump and go.

anyway, I think they probably get mad because they can not collect a commission on the prize until you cash it?

lotteries need to get real and allow online play damn it! or sell franchise lottery shop for each neighborhood, with clerks strictly for lottery sales, so players do not need to deal with any BS.

cheers!

i wish they would let us do quick picks for pick 3 and pick 4 on the slips, if i could fillout my own sheets it would be easier for me and the retailer. and alot of my problems are with the workers themselves, gotta learn to speak english better.

Sure you do
I suspect if you tracked it accurately , you would find that your losses exceed your wins
Its a lottery and you expect us to believe that you have a method of beating the odds ???

I do not think so

I don't understand why you just don't cash the ticket and put the money in the box.
And yeah, the retailers get $$$ when you buy tickets from their machines and when you cash a winning ticket.

The way i look at it, whats 3 dollars, if i cash 3 bucks in its just pocket change, but save all the tickets and cash them in together, it adds up.

Yeah my favorite is when I'm there to buy an energy drink or coffee and some douche is getting the clerk to run two hundred accumulated tickets through the terminal.

That is a statistically unlikely scenario.
Unless he got lucky and had a big win, it's less than unlikely. It's near impossible. He would have a way better chance of beating the odds if he took BBB's suggestion and played any game at a casino.

I have been in line for some dude cashing in 50 tickets or more! Luckily the clerk took the $1.50 for my coffee without ringing it in! He's probably pocketing it, but w/e :)

a good clerk should simply tell you to wait while he helps other customers first
lottery is the last priority for most stores since they make very little money on it

if i have a bunch of a tickets that need to be redeemed i have no problem waiting whlie the clerk helps everyone else first
its the douche bags i hate with 100 649/lotto max tickets that get the clerk to check them when there is a self-checker

The stores should have the self-checker position near the cashier so when somebody wants to *check* 50 tickets, the cashiers can simply tell said person to use the checker.

Unfortunately, a lot of the cashiers at these convenience stores or gas stations don't speak English well or are too shy to tell the customers to do so.
