When I think Lithium, SQM is the company I have in mind. Overvalued IMHO.

when exposed to air lithium bursts into flames and cannot be extinguished with water... it is a highly reactive element.

These are the same type used in cameras right? Who would expose them (let alone a car battery)? They're sealed tight.

Gasoline has similar qualities. Not quite as volatile perhaps, but still quite similar. From what I've seen it's quite popular..

Lithium, as a pure metal is reactive. As are other alkali metals including sodium, potassium. As a salt or compound, they are stable. Lithium is used as a drug for treating bipolar disorder. Table salt - sodium chloride. I think you need a refresher in chemistry.

Batteries do not use stable lithium compounds, because when the compounds in battries are stable, you have what is called A DEAD BATTERY. Lithum salts are used to treat some mental conditions. Perhaps it is you that needs the refresher in chemistry. If you don't believe me, go take a lithum battery and pound on it with a hammer. lol here's what might happen:
