My Rogers expolorer 8000 is giving me problems. Anyone have access to the new ones..8642. Rogers asking $500 + tax. HATE THOSE GUYS.
I am with Rogers and have their PVR. A Bell guy came to our building and set up a little desk area in the lobby. He made a great offer, so I called Rogers to cancel. They asked why, I told them about the Bell guy and his offer, and then Rogers matched the offer, so I stuck with them. I was paying $20 a month for the PVR, now I have it for free for 12 months. Basically Rogers knocked $60 a month off my bill to keep me.Call Rogers, tell them Bell is offering you a terrific package to switch to satellite, including giving you a PVR, and see what they say.
I did, last December, and they gave me a PVR free of charge, for a year. I plan on calling them again this November and telling them to renew the free offer, or I'll switch, now.
They have bumped the rental up to $24.95 plus tax of course. My bundled bill is getting out of hand. When I call and say I don't want you F*****g entertainment magazine that you are charging me $1, they say there is no way to take it off...what a rip off. Going to try the Bell approach with them and see what they say.you could rent... $20/mo which is good if you have people in your house who wrecks things like me (i.e. kids)
or build your own MythTV
Thanks tribunus...just off the phone..got a free 8642 for 1 year. They said can't do the 3 year same as Bell but call in a year if I want and also got 20% off internet.Very easy to get a free PVR from Rogers. Just call their retentions/loyalty department with the threat of cancelling or mention a comparable offer from Bell like mb2010 and they will offer you something, whether its a free PVR, HD box or monthly discount off your bill. If you're polite and tact, you get both (hardware & discount) on a minimum 1 year agreement.
It still amazes me how many people are still going month to month with their cable, internet & phone. Sign on for a year or two if you so wish, and you'll get freebies/discounts galore. If you're happy then rinse and repeat when the agreement is about to expire.
How does one go about purchasing one? I would love to know, don't you need an American address as well?try direct t.v.
