Since the question has been asked about SP's and there have been numerous threads speculating how much they earn, how about us?

How much do we earn, save, spend on the hobby? do we live on the breadline and borrow to fund our hobby?
How about you? Let us know first. :p

I'm sure some of us do. I personally save a ton...it's because I'm able to discipline myself to live below my means and all extra profits and interest earned goes directly to investments. Also consider that if you do not have any bad habits: gambling, smoking, drugs and drinking...you can save a ton.

I save zero dollars, instead I buy things that will earn money or give me pleasure. I've set it up so I can earn until the day I die.
Good thing I don't have children, that would fuck my plans.

You could also profit/take advantage on those having bad habits too.....:p
You're absolutely right...but i could never do that. I couldn't sleep at night knowing that I'm preying on people's addictions and profiting from their weaknesses. Those things kill people slowly. I guess I'm too much of a moral capitalist...that wouldn't be an oxymoron.

Haven't had any principal debt in over ten years. I do borrow to invest; however, that is tax deductible. All hobbying comes from discretionary income. I saved a ton and only work for the enjoyment. I used to save 30% of my take home pay and bonus. However I put in 30 hard working years to get when I am today, financially free!
You, my friend, are one of the lucky ones. Most people struggle to pay bills and accumulate little throughout their lives. I have been working for a little over 10 years now since full-time university graduation and save 75% of my monthly cashflow which gets invested and reinvested. As the age old wisdom states...financial freedom is attainable through consistent saving and proper investing. I know several family friends that have achieved that over the course of 20-30 years.

Hmm....I dunno since one could say the SPs/MPAs prey on our addiction and profit from our horniness. :p

I do not recall any problem sleeping at night by profiting those bad habits since that's the few occasions to "get back even" legally. Maybe not for narcotics since it's illegal but there's nothing wrong to switch from profiting narcotics to investing Military Industrial Complex, aka defense industries.

As long as you are not into those habits, other than say very modest wine consumption, a tiny fraction of what CAMH recommendation and equally modest, lower risk "hobbying", otherwise, I have no qualms whatsoever to invest a diversified basket of vices for my retirements, receive fat dividends as annuities and reinvest those dividends with new money for something else.

BTW, stay away from publicly traded equities related to sex/porn stuffs since the majority of them are small-caps and volatile. Plus the fundamentals for the majority of them are lousy and I am not even starting to talk about pricing power, or lack of one.....

Those things kill people slowly.
Sure but in the long run, we are all dead. Maybe somebody should invest in those companies manufacturing caskets and urns, in addition to pre-paid funerals, purchase burial plot and have life insurance policy to cover the final expense.

I guess I'm too much of a moral capitalist...that wouldn't be an oxymoron.
LOL. Money and profit do not know the terms conscience and morality.

Are you suggesting you save 75% of your take home pay, before tax for investment?

1. It's quite an ignorant question. My family engrained into my head, don't discuss money, polictics and religion.
Life has been very good to me in terms of everything, and this is more information than you need to know.

true...but i like to think of myself as a capitalist that will stop at nothing to provide the BEST product or service to my customers. I will constantly learn, improve and innovate in order to give my customers more for their money. I will treat my employees very well and reward them appropriately. I will be completely honest with all of my customers. I will not bash my competitors, but will keep abreast of what they are doing and attempt to out-do them everytime. I am environmentally friendly and will spend the extra bucks to ensure things get disposed of properly. I will not be greedy and shall conduct myself with honour and integrity every time. That, my friend, makes me a moral capitalist.

Yes sir. my monthly income is in the form of cash, dividends, drawings and investment income. I live way below my means and only use several grand per month for living expenses and entertainment. The rest gets invested.

No no I don't spend 7K...more like 4K. However, if I did spend 7K per month, that would include some extreme pleasures like very expensive restaurants, a Porsche lease, SPs three times a week, shopping, etc. etc. etc. Although that sounds sweet, I would much rather keep working hard, live frugally and invest my money towards building more income producing assets.

you and me both! building wealth is fun... I don't know why more people don't do it.
I suspect you two guys are among the rare exceptions. Wouldn't be surprised if most TERBIE live from hand to mouth and are only two paycheques away from homelessness.
