If you want to make good money the prudent thing to do
is to invest in stocks of profitable businesses with good growth
prospects. Betting on the direction of the stock market is only
for those chasing dinky returns. Obviously finding such stocks
are not always straightforward. But in my experience studying
the fundamentals of my picks are way easier than getting the
market direction right.

I deify anyone on this board to make a claim that they are able to consistently make a over all positive return with market timing techniques.

This get in get out game will only generate profit for the brokers

Better to
1. Identify Co's with good long term prospects to grow their Revenue and Profit. Co's paying dividends which grow are especially attractive
2. Buy and hold
3. Let the Management of the Co's work for you over a period of many years

This is really perfect advise. I've been following it myself for twenty years.

You also might want to consider investing in companies that offer Divident re-investment programs (DRIPS). Drips offer you the opportunity to allow your dividends to compound without commissions (which can add up).
