Stuck in Lodi again
For those who might have missed it on the T.O. boards, the was an article in the toronto sun today(page22) about a series of raids over the past 10 day in Markham, Richmond Hill and Vaughan called "Operation Closure" in which 88 massage parlours were raided and 323 charges were filed.

These charges were under bylaws that require the MPs to be licensed, their doors be unlocked, unobstructed windows to allow authorities to look into rooms where clients are being serviced, mandatory attendance by the owner at the business and no nude or partially nude attendants.

I doesn't mention whether any charges were against clients, but with those rules hardly seems worth the visit or risk.

Seems like the law has made an impact on the local level of politics again. What level of government makes legal another level makes illegal, usually siting something like "violating the standards of community morality" or some bullshit like that. Nothing like blurring the lines even more than already are.

I wish these fucking politicians get on the same page for once make up thier god damn minds for once. But the simple fact is it all has to do with money and image.

All levels of government make money from MPs. Both Federal & Provincial get money from taxes and such. The local level get money from business licences. Plus all the other little small prints that nets them more money.

The only problem is that the various levels of governments hate looking like pimps. Basically profiting from the sex industry. But there is so much more than that little fact to hurt thier image:

- RMTs really hate being compared to MP (which apparently happens a lot), and have a very potent lobbying power thanks to the various Unions that are connected to health care.

- Local law enforcement, especially in Hamilton, usually see anything connected to the sex industry in bed with organized crime.

- Plus there are the concerned, upright, and uptight citizens turning all NIMBY when a MP is discovered in thier neighborhood or business area.

So while all the politicians love to get thier cut of money from MP industry, they don't want the image that goes along with it. So you get this sanctimonious double standard and blurring of legal lines throughout the sex industry.

North of nothing
thats our tax dollars at work people. with more serius crimes on the rise, they concentrate on the buisness that has been around for all of recorded history and will probubly be around untill civilization falls. what is so bad about a so called rub and tug when people are killing each other and brakeing into home and business are more of a serious threat to all of us. but hay we elected the people with the power and now we have to live with there inept crime fighting skill. yessss lets get the sex business and not worry about the more sinister crimes.
