If I am not mistaken, Adam Smith, the author of the Wealth of Nations did say Real Estate is just like any consumer goods and hence not much value added, something I totally agree.

That doesn't mean you have to rent for life. You just need to be fully aware that a house is a house, not some kind of speculation you could flip to get additional bucks....

IMHO you should never overpaid and live too big of a house. I would rather spend less in house/condo and invest the "difference" on retirement. Whatever remaining afterward will be spent for fun say....hobbying.

BTW, the governments of all levels have vested interest to encourage this kind of scams. All they need to do is to deceive and make people take the bait are twofolds-interest rate and taxation policies. :rolleyes:
