I recently started playing poker at Casino Niagara and I have been pretty successful. I am up $900 on 4 visits playing $1-$2. Never played in a casino before this.

Just wondering how successful other terbites have been and what do you usually play?

I play BJ, Craps and Mini Baccarat. All because of the small house edge. Poker is to much of a grind for me. Most hands get thrown away and you sit. I generally walk when up $400-500 but have walked with $1000-1500. And when I say walk. I WALK. I have sat at a table and won $500 in 30 minutes and I am GONE. I see TOO MANY people trying to make a big hit and get hit big. One guy I sat next to won about $10,000 in 2-3 hours and he gave it all back trying to make a bigger hit.

i play quite a bit of poker and will go down to niagara when time permits
for 2010 im up about 5k in 6 trips

most ive ever made in one night at the tables in niagara was 11k
most ive ever lost was about 3k
usually ill start at 1-2 then move up or go over to fallsview
longest poker session at niagara = 15 hours

i find i do a lot better when i go really late at night, most of the ppl at the tables are either drunk or playing on tilt because they are down so much

If you sit down at the table and everyone else seems to know each other, find another table. If the table is full of loud talking drunks, have fun.

I used to play at the Blue heron in Port Perry. Its limit poker there, which i find i am better at. I dont like the no limit like at Niagara. At the Blue heron i played 5-10 limit with a bankroll of $300. I would say that i would win money 4 out of 5 times i went. the problem is you have to invest alot of time. You cant go play for an hour while your wife is in the slots. With 5-10 limit i find all you have to do is play tight starting cards and when you do make a good hand, you really dont even need to bet, others will bet into you. You can grind out a couple hundred per session. But like i said it is time consuming.

Really thinking of hitting Casino Niagara tonight because I'm bored. Hopefully, I'll win and have a good time at Sundowner after. LOL

online can be dangerous.

i KNOW GUYS WHO WORK IN TANDEM. THEY GET ON THE SAME TABLE....AND SIT ON THE TELEPHONE WITH EACH OTHER. THEY DISCUSS THEIR HANDS, THE STRATEGIES...WHO WILL FOLD ETC AND SHARE IN THE OVERALL WINNINGS.

QUITE A GOOD STRATEGY IF YOU HAVE A PARTNER....CAUSE RAISES BY ONE CAN AFFECT OTHERS AT THE TABLES, WHILE THE PARTNER WITH THE KK PAIR THEN REAPS SOME REWARDS.....

Yeah. A couple friends of mine did that. There was a 60 Minutes story on the Indian tribe out of Montreal that had a rigged game.

Anyone tried http://virgingaming.com/

Started by billionaire Richard Branson of Virgin Airlines and others. It's not casino games but "games of skill." I believe that's how they get around the laws.

I usually play poker, blackjack, craps, or three card poker (i know...horrible odds). Honestly if you are in it for the long run, take the theory from Rounders for NLH, you should really be making one big play an hour then protecting ur stack most of the other times. but places like niagra where huge donkeys and fish come to play...you can maybe play 2-3 big hands. But play you cards smart, dont chase yourself into a huge pot and then get trapped and committed etc.

But i've always wondered how ppl strategize baccarat...any helps on that topic...looking to get into that kinda game

I usually go done 1-2 x's / month. Simple system - call down before arriving, get their late (someone mentioned picking on the obvious drunks - there are'nt that many), pick on the obvious weak link at the table (usually a tourist - ask a few questions), be mindfull of the pro's (both fallsview and niagara have them - they dont work at all - poker is their job! lol) battle them hard when you have the nuts or %'s on your side.

Make your money, dont get greedy and walk away!! That is the key!

Dont ever play online. Why do you think you see poker shows and commercials 5 millions time a day on every network? Stay away! Play live.
Also why do think the "Dad" - Dalton Mcguinty and the Provincial Government are so excited and eager to start up Provincially run online gambling via the Ontario Lottery Corporation?

The Provincial Online Gambling site will mandate that potential gamblers MUST register online to verify - name and age. If you think they won't track your habits and/or winnings you are either naive, ignorant or just plan crazy!

I'm sorry, thanks but no thanks "Dad". I for one will never touch this scam. Do not drink the cool-aid - this is a money grab which will lead to future scandal and more intrusive laws. I forcast future winners being taxed even more. Not a chance you say? Everyone perceives Canadian law to support a "tax-free" lottery system. Not true. The general rule is that gambling, wagering and lottery winnings are generally tax free in Canada unless the Canada Revenue Agency concludes that you are “carrying on the business of gambling” or, in other words, you are a considered to be a professional gambler.

"The OLG estimates that Ontarians spend approximately $400 million each year in unregulated online gambling — with none of that money entering government coffers through taxation or fees."

I like to go near the end of the month. Usually the pros are playing for rent and bills and they are very tight. You have better bluffing odds so you can be more aggressive. Vs drunks and rookies play straight up. You should do ok. I'm not a big winner buy if I can get 300-500 I'm a happy dude.
