I recently signed up for a RBC Direct Investing account. And as usual, the person who helped me open the account knew absolutely nothing about it or anything.

Anyways, I listed my networth as only 5k. and wrote i am unemployed and making under 25k a year.

the above info isn't true but i just put it. What im wondering, is this going to get me declined? I really hope that i dont get declined, how long would it take to re-apply?

Why on Earth would you put "unemployed", 'net worth under 5k", "making under 25k" and NOW you are worried you will be declined?

Mindboogling!!
Wow, mate, instead of making me feel like complete crap, you could at least answer my questions.

I put those because I was scared they would pass it to the gov't and make me pay taxes.. How high do you think the chances of me being declined are? And how long do I have to wait to re-apply?

it's 2010- everything in Canada now get's reported. and the smallest 'blips' get flagged if you are worried about tax evasion.*

anyways, don't be 'sensitive' to medman... he's got a point... though, I think they will still be happy to open an account for you. best to call and see how the process is going... btw- do you have any RBC savings or chequing accounts? that generally helps.

*up until 2007 the rumoured reporting limits were anything over $3000 moved at once. but, now with cheap mass storage they get every transaction filed to their large databases and rely on computer programs and investigations dep't to flag suspicious movements.

ever wonder why Alex Doulis is no longer in business? (author of Take Your Money and Run)

And application for an account has nothing to do with anything they would be reporting to the government. However, if you were to drop 100 K into an account after having reported having no net worth a long of lights would start flashing somewhere in RBC and someone would be asking questions.
