Be careful
VectorVest attempts to time the market.
I have not personally tried VectorVest, however I do know that very few people (in fact no one) are able to time the market consistently.
Why people are fascinated by these price & volume charts is a mystery to me. (it may be because it is simple & intuitive to understand- that is a very risky way to invest your hard earned money)
Price & Volume Charts do not predict when a company has fallen behind the competition, when they will launch a world beating new iPhone or if the valuation is far too rich
The really successful investors focus on the risk before focusing on the reward.
Sadly most retail investors get it the other way around
e.g. Citigroup is in a god-awful mess & is only a float because of the bailout by the Federal govt
Can this company grow?
A better question is perhaps , can this company survive on its own?
Yet some pin-head will look at a chart decide (incorrectly) it is undervalued & pour thousands of dollars into a bet it will go up.
That is a bet not an investment
A much more sensible approach is to determine when to buy & sell based upon relative valuation & perceived growth opportunities for a company. ie. fundamental analysis
Over the long haul you will have better performance and less sleepless nights , relative to basing investment decisions solely on price & volume charts.
