Hi all - ok now that I have had some time to cool down a bit from an action packed week 6 in the NFL I need to rant......Missed out on $573,000 - there was only 1 winner.

I hate the Bears & Lovie Smith.....ended up getting 13/14 correct on pro-picks with the Bears being my only loss. They were winning with 11seconds left, kick-off (squib-kick???), let Atl get good field position, play a prevent defense, allow a Matt Ryan pass then the field goal!! Oh ya plus there was the Goal to goal earlier in the game when they came away with no points. UGHHHHHHHH!!!!

Here are the game hi-lights so you can laugh at me and/or feel my pain!
CHI VS ATL - gong show!!!

Oh by the way - the ATL kicker - Jason Elam (who kicked the winning field goal vs CHI) also screwed me last year - week 7 VS the Steelers kicking a winning field goal as time expired. I also had 13/14 correct that week with Denver beating the Steelers to ruin my ticket.

That is a tough loss indeed!

I wonder if it was another chick or non-fan who won the pool?

The sqib kick is stupid. I couldn't believe they did one. Just drive it deep and hope for the best.

I'm a falcons fan but I will try to remain unbiased. I watched the entire game from start to end and the Falcons dominated most of that game. The Bears defense couldnt get off the field on 3rd down a lot. And the Falcons were able to take advantage of a banged up secondary as Vasher was already out Tillman got injured during the game. And lets be honest, the Bears were lucky to only be down 9-3 at halftime. It easily could have been a much larger deficit. As for the squib kick, Norwood's big kickoff return on the previous Bears kickoff was the reason they went with the squib.

As far as the Matt Ryan pass to Jenkins to set up the GW fg the Bears were NOT in a prevent defense as earlier stated in this thread. They were in a cover-2 zone. That was not a bad defense to play in that situation. Marcus Hamilton's poor execution of the defense is the reason Matt Ryan was able to connect with Jenkins on that play. Marcus Hamilton for some unknown reason bit on a flat route to Norwood instead of running with Jenkins. How does the flat route with 6 seconds left to go hurt the Bears? Concede the underneath stuff and guard against the deeper stuff. He didnt even re-route Jenkins which would have given Mike Brown time to get over from his safety spot and break up the play. The underneath stuff is not gonna hurt the Bears, even if Ryan connects on a short 10 yard pass, there is gonna be no time for the ball carrier to advance it far enough (and get out of bounds to stop the clock) to get into makeable fg territory for Elam.

I feel your pain bounce and from your point of view I can totally understand how you would feel about the goal-line stand that the Falcons defense made where the Bears failed to punch it in. One could argue that Lovie should have taken the points there, as they were down 9 points with 8 mins to go. If you wanna blame Lovie for that I can agree with you on that one. They needed 2 scores a TD, FG to win the game, the order is irrelevent. Take the fg there and make it a one possession game. We also need to remember that if Elam doesnt miss that 38 yard field goal after the Norwood Kick return, the game in all probability is iced right there and the Bears comeback doesnt even happen. It was a nice comeback by the Bears but the team that played better for MOST of the game won the game. Thom Brennamen and Brian Billick even said that it would have been a heartbreaker for Atlanta if they had lost after dominating most of the game.

That being said, I feel your pain, losing half a million like that has got to be awful.

The games are 60 minutes long, not 59 minutes and 49 seconds.

Nice detailed feedback Ckupids04 - very insightfull on a number of accounts. Yes games are 60 mins long......still blame Lovie Smith for a number of poor coaching decesions througout the game. If you look at all pro-sports coaching in the NFL has a greater effect on the result on the game compared to NHL, NBA, MLB. Ultimately players need to produce results but the Coach is on the hook for putting them into position to succeed.

On to week 7 - it does suck being that close on half a million but there are 9 more weeks to go and I like my new NFL gametracker I created in the off-season it has been paying off for me so far this year. I will connect one week - I have no doubt about it!

I agree coaching in football has a far greater impact on the result of the game than coaching in any other sport. Also consider that there are like 15 coaches on each team when you include all the assistants so coaching definitely plays a big role.

You do realize that had the Bears won, there may have been a lot more than 1 person getting 14 of 14?

Changing the results of one game may have reduced the pot dramatically. Saying the Bears lost cost me $573K is wrong. It may have only cost you 5K as that change in results may have produced 1,000 winners.

excellent point by MuffDiver as there may have been multiple people that had the same selections as Bounce. To be accurate , it costed him AT MOST $573K but in all probability it cost him less.

Fair point but with all the upsets (Stl vs WSH, Arz vs Dal, & Clev vs NYG) just to name a few. I doubt it would be many at all if that.

On to week 7!!
