I like:

* Tenn +1.5 (Cincy's D sucks)
* Det +4.5 (will the Rogers hoopla wear off this week?)
* TB -7.5 (they smoked Atl twice last season by big margins)
* Clv +7.5 (a lot of points at home against a division rival...though the browns looked bad against Dal last week)
* Bal +4.5 (Bal should keep this game close)
* Car -3.0 (big road win last week - The bears played hard on Sunday in indy, will they be prepared to face the panthers?)
* Phi +7.5 (which Philly team will show up this year?)

I like:

Bills +6

The Jags have O-line problems right now. The Bills look good.

Bears + 3. The Bears are back to playing great D & Kyle Orton won't make many mistakes. The Panthers beat an over-rated Charger team last week.

Eagles +7.5

The last two times the Cowboys have hosted the Eagles, they have scored 7 & 6 points respectively.

I think these 3 teams may win outright....the points are a bonus.

First off, great idea, but to captialize off this shared knowledge, people should be sharing their strongest picks only. Otherwise it just dilutes the betting knowledge base.

I like:

Chi over Car - the bears are underrated right now and steve "i'll beat you up" smith is still out.

Bills over Jags - Bills can not only win this outright, they will for sure cover.

Pit over Cle - Pitt is a beast this year, strong qb, strong wr's and a dual headed rb corps.

I'm not too sure if this will help at all....

I don't bet on pro-line but I do use an on-line betting company. My parlay choices for the weekend are:

For NCAAF -my moneyline ticket has -Auburn, Georgia, California and USC a $100 bet will earn you back $232.
My point spread pick - Auburn -11, Penn State -27, USC -10 1/2, Michigan State -17 and Ill -24 - $10 will get you $244

For the NFL I have 2 moneylines and 1 7-point teaser ticket.

ML1 - Indy, NO, GB, Buf, NYG, NE $10 for 265

ML2 - Indy, GB, NYG, Jax, AZ, Pit $20 for 174

Teaser - Pit plus 1, Indy plus 5, NO plus 6, GB plus 4, NYG -1 1/2, Buf plus 12 1/2, Atl plus 15, Sea pick 'em, Arz plus .5 and Houston plus 3 $10 gets you 160

Good luck gents. These were the best values I could find for this weekend, the 4 NCAAF money line picks were IMO the "best" picks but not really too much value. And for the NFL, moneyline; Indy, GB, Pit and NO are my best picks but for value purposes I added some "guesses".

First off PROLINE is a Joke. They take games off the board and inflate the point spread lines.
I'll use JOKELINE a few times a year, you can find value every so often.
It's makes no sense to use JOKELINE to make money. You are far better off opening an online account and betting one game at a time.
And TEASERS for Football. :D

Here are my Leans: ~5dimes.com~

CAROLINA -3

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS +1.0

TEN/CIN UNDER 39

KANSAS CITY -3

Thinking of TEASING
- DALLAS PICK, TAMPA -1 and CLEVELAND +14.5

Thanks Ray.

Personally I only spend $20-$25/week on NFL games for fun. I can't be bothered betting off-shore or where-ever due to various circumstances.

Proline will offer value if I am not mistaken. Why would they post different odds from Vegas? Are they stupid? Who knows and who fucking cares!

I usually make few hundred off pro-line over an NFL season - Mainly due to luck of the draw.

If someone can identify an anomoly or oddity that will help the poor schleper like me make a couple of bucks, then thank the original poster of this thread.

Other than hoping to hit a pro-pick jack-pot, earning a few bucks a week makes the Sunday action a little more entertaining.

raufinkel is right. Pro-line is bad for shifting the lines too far off, that and their win / loss criteria is messed up. You really can't go on one game bets and there are no teasers.

I killed myself with Cal and Illi this weekend on college -I should have known better. I should have taken Ball State.

But tomorrow is a new day.

I disagree wholeheartedly with taking Oakland +6½, they were god-awful at home last week, can't imagine how bad they'll be on the road...also would lay that extra ½ point above a TD with Seattle -7½, even against the crappy 49ers.

I like: KC -6½, Buf +4½, PIT -6½ TB -7½, Den +1½, NE -1½

Good luck everyone!!!

Indy, Pit, GB, SD/Den over and Phi/Dal over... good luck guys !

Also, the Raiders are on the road after a Monday night game...which usually means a loss.

BBB,

I like all your picks except TB - 7.5 That's too many points with Brian Greise at QB for the Bucs. This Falcons team is better than they were last year.

I understand Jokeline has KC -6.5 but in the real world the line is KC -3.5.

If you have to play Jokeline, you should be playing Oakland, or avoid this game. I don't like Oakland, but on Jokeline they offer value.

Help out a novice NFL bettor. When you are talking about a line what does that exactly mean?
If we use the ex of KC -6.5 or -3.5 does this mean they will win but by less than 3.5 points??
All help is appreciated.

If it is KC -6.5, they have to win by 7 or more. If the Chiefs are + 6.5, the other team has to win by 7 or more.

Last weekend was a strange one, 9 teams had a lead in the 4th quarter & lost the game....this tied an NFL record.

smtmtd1 - on betting lines you will almost always notice half point spreads -for the betting houses this will discourage a push on that particular game. So, if the line was 7 then the favorites win by 7 -it's a push. But if the line is 6 1/2 or 7 1/2 there can never be a push -someone has to win.

For this week I'm trying something different - A 2 team parlay runner for both Saturday games (NCAAF) and Sunday games (NFL). I figure I'll start win $100 and let it ride for however many weeks before I lose or turn into a pussy.

I've played my Saturday tickets already -taking Michigan State and Georgia on a moneyline for $100 paying $72 for a return of $172. Then the $172 (assuming it comes in) will go for Sunday on a 2 team parlay - New England and Buffalo -both moneylines.

God I'm an idiot.

Exactly the point of this thread.

However, I do like:

* Atl: -5.5 KC is bad, real bad.
* Tenn: -5.5 I like their defense
* Car: +2.5 They have played tough this year
* Phi: -3.5 Pitt wasn't too impressive against the browns
* Jack: +5.5 Not a bad spread against a seeminly weak defensive Indy

Games to ponder:

* Buff: -9.5 Oakland is still a shitty team. A turnover or two and this is a blow-out
* NYG: -14.5 Can the Bengals be that bad?
* NO: +6.5 A lot of points for Den to cover
* Balt: -2.5 Clv is shitty right now
