Hello everyone.

I was wondering if anybody knows which are the closest hotels/motels near the intersection of Water St and Cedar St/Concession Street in Cambridge? Basically, I'm looking for a place near the start of the Cambridge to Hamilton Rail Trail. Not looking for anything fancy (but it has to be safe and clean) as I'm simply going to sleep there for the night before heading on the trail to do a little bike (bicycle) trip to Hamilton - actually Burlington and then back to Cambridge the next day. So I'll also need a place that will allow me to store my bicycle inside the room. I don't feel like leaving an expensive bicycle anywhere out of my sight.

The closest I found was the Satellite Motel which is about 3.5km from the starting point of the trail. Anybody know anything about this motel and have any opinions on it? Are there any other hotels/motels closer to the intersection of Water St and Cedar St/Concession Street?

I'm also going to post a message in the Burlington section as I'll need a place to stay when I get there as well. Preferably a place near Solid Gold. :)

Thanks,

The Satellitte motel is as good as you're going to get for the location that you want to be in... if you go a bit north of the satellite motel then you'll find some better places (approx 1-2km more)

why not go a couple of KMs down the road and stay at some place nicer. The Satelilite is not a nice motel in my opinion. But it'll do the trick. Its been there for a while, its kinda like something u see in a movie. Hespeler Rd has a few hotels/motels, Best Western,Travelodge Hotel,Super 8. And a few more KMs away from there is a holiday inn and comfort in. Pay more for a nice hotel and ask for a bottom floor so you can wheel your bike into the back sliding door.

I've thought about getting a room at one of the hotels further north (closer to the 401) but I'm not sure if that's a good idea. This would mean I'd have to ride south on Hespeler Road (to get to the start of the trail) which is pretty busy and not a very bike friendly road. That and I'm tacking on more kms on a 90+ km epic ride as it is. Are there no nice hotels/motels on the south side of Cambridge?
