I never win shit.
It's all fixed. They have in their computers the numbers we all pick each time and they just select other numbers, until they feel like giving something away to look honest.

One day, you wait. The biggest scam in history will be revealed!
You heard it hear first.

It seems to me that the way to seriously increase your "chance" of winning is to become a retailer.

The odds in winning are absolutely horrible. I do not understand why the do not put the major ones on television anymore. I think that people want to see it live instead of being told what the numbers are. Just a thought.

The large lotteries are not fixed, smaller lotteries like Keno, Pick4
might be subject to some manipulation as it would be possible for a wealthy player to wager large amounts and actually make a profit consistently ( by playing a large number of combos that cover a good % of the board, losing very little when he loses, and staying in the game until he hits). However, this is just my belief, no hard evidence to back this theory.

With the larger lotteries I read somewhere the Lotto Commission may employ different machines to draw numbers - the theory is that some machines yield friendlier combos than others.

The odds of winning the large lotteries are astronomical ( it's best to avoid playing these unless as part of a play group to share the risk) . If you want to have fun playing the Lottery
with a fighting chance to win a bit of money just stick to the smaller lotteries (ONT 49, Keno, Picks 3 etc) like some of us.
This year I have a nice profit on Keno and ONT49 already, and the tickets don't cost as much.

I can understand why people aren't winning at 649 or Super 7, but why haven't I won a single thing from 25 hospital lottery tickets i've purchased over the years...you know the ones that advertise "1 in 5" or "1 in 8 " chances to win. I realize those aren't the odds to win the big prizes, but I haven't even won a $50 prize once???...The odds are i should have won 4-5 times already!!!

But of course that's why they are just odds, and not guarantees. With my luck, I could flip a coin and call "heads" and lose 12 times in a row too!!!

Actually, in Nevada there was a guy that that worked for the gaming commision and he discovered that Keno's numbers weren't actually random. So he went out and won a crapload of money at Keno until he got arrested. Apparently its illegal for people who work on the gamming commision to play the gamble.
From the description for the TV show Breaking Vegas:
Ron Harris turned his attention to the lottery game keno. Carefully studying the patterns of the computers that generate the lottery numbers, he discovered that they weren't really random but could be predicted with the aid of his own computer.

The first time Harris played keno, he won $100,000 -- but got into trouble when casino officials discovered he worked for the gaming commission, whose employees are legally barred from playing in casinos. He eventually went to prison for two years.

Tampering with slot machines is cheating in anybody's book. But what about outsmarting the casino's keno computer? ''Is that cheating?'' asks Harris. ''If you can use your wits to be as smart as the machine you're betting against?''

From the description for the TV show Breaking Vegas:
yes yes the same random number generator at the Montreal Casino - a keno game - a few years back that a Math guy cracked 'supposedly' using chaos theory. They paid him $600,000 all legal !!

"Keno scandal

In April of 1994, Daniel Corriveau managed to win $600,000 CAD playing the Casino de Montréal keno. He was able to pick 19 of the 20 winning numbers three times in a row. Corriveau claims he used a computer and Chaos Theory to discern a pattern in the sequence of numbers. It was later found that the sequence was made easier to predict because the Casino was using an inadequate electronic pseudorandom number generator. In fact, the electronic keno machine was reset every morning with the same seed number, producing the same sequence of numbers every day. Corriveau received his winnings after investigators cleared him of any wrongdoing."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montreal_Casino

"In April of 1994, in Montreal, Daniel Corriveau was betting on the province run Keno games. In this game 20 numbers are drawn randomly from a pool of 80. Prizes are awarded based on how many of the numbers you can guess. The probability of guessing all 20 numbers is approximately 1 / 4.19 X 1015. This is low. If you played one game per second, you would expect to play for over 130 million years before guessing all 20 numbers. Corriveau won three consecutive jackpots winning a total of $600,000. What he did was keep a record of winning numbers and, using a computer and a complex branch of mathematics called chaos theory, discern a pattern. He was able to predict the next numbers to come up and placed his bets. He was investigated by the police and cleared of any wrongdoing. Although he had used no fraudulent methods and had no inside information, the provincially owned casino at first refused to pay him."
