With Christmas coming up in a few months I am thinking of getting my son a PSP or Nintendo DS, I got my dauther the Nintendo DS for her birthday. Which game system is better for a 16 year old? The PSP is more $$$$ but is it more versitile, I know you can play movies on the PSP, can you down load and copy movies and games for the PSP? I know you can buy an adapter for the DS so you can but a SD memory card into it with downloaded games.

Any help or comments in this matter would great. Thanks

If you already have DS, I'd stay with it. You can download certain games from one DS to another, then play against each other wirelessly (i.e. only 1 DS needs the game cartridge)

DS is on sale at Zellers for $109 till Fri

Make sure you remember, that depends on how old the daughter is and how close the sibilings are and what kinda games they play. I mean, if she is 9 and likes barbie stuff, chances are they not gonna be playing against each other. That would last a day and the dude is gonna get a game with 100 guns in it and never look back.

PSP Hands Down

PSP has a wireless access, you can access your pictures and videos on your computer with your PSP. PSP can be modded for $25.00, games can be downloaded and put on a 4 gig card ...put 6-10 games on the card, movies etc...you never have to use the dvd drive on the psp, so it can work for 4-6 hours on battery because accessing memory card takes less battery.

If he has a PS2 then do not get the PSP. Most of the games on the PSP are PS2 re-releases. The DS has more original games.

On the other hand, if you son cares more about graphics and more mature-oriented games, then go with the PSP. I have both, but I prefere the DS because I have a PS2 already.

does the DS have a built in web browser?

Brownie,

you can't put a ps2 in your pocket.
As far as I know, the DS does not have a built in web brower, but I believe one can be purchased if its important to you.

Your right that you can't put a ps2 in your pocket, but would you buy the same games for you psp so you can just play them while your away from home?

Get DS and the buy an R4 cartridge which is just basically plug and play. It'll save you $$$ in the hundreds of games you can download !!! I think I'm up to 1000+ now ... not that I played them all.

The web browser can be downloaded as well.

I would get the DS....
I have had the DS and its got a lot of fun and entertaining games....

The DS and its cartridges are more durable...
I think the battery life is longer on the DS...

I borrowed my brother-in-law's PSP and I didn't enjoy it much....Took longer to load as well....Felt more clunky (harder to handle) than the DS.....
DS is much more player friendly....

There are classic games like Super Mario Bros and Mario Carts which all kids seem to like.

They also have Mario 64....

Which is essentially the Mario game originally created for the old Nintedo 64 console made for the DS....

Personally, I preferred the DS. Has a library that suits my taste and can play my GBA games.

I never quite got the appeal to watching movies on a PSP. The only time someone would use a handheld device is when they're travelling or taking a crap.

That's why I only take one a day sometimes one every two.....

Actually, Fire Emblem has been a great game for that. I can just shut it off after 2 minutes and it'll save my progress without having to go through the menus.
