So my dad says to me "Have you heard of something call a Wii?"

Turns out he likes the Tennis game because it's active and he's found that he could use a bit of a workout.

Are there other games that are good as well? I'm going to show him DDR for the PS but are there other Wii games.

Now I was looking on futureshop's website which game comes with Tennis?

Definitely a WTF moment. You'd think a terbite would be looking for the Wii for his kid not his dad nearing retirement.

the game wii-sports comes bundled with the wii console. Wiisports has 5 mini-games including Tennis. It also has boxing (another good workout), baseball, golf and bowling. Wii-sports also has a component that measures your fitness level and translates your results to a fitness age. It also keeps track of that so he can see his progress throughout the year. Wii-sports also has a training mode, where you actually can practice in a boxing exercise that is similar to dodge ball (works the side abs quite well)

No other games to my knowledge have as much of a consistent workout. Mortal Kombat Armegeddon from it's previews looks like it could be a good workout. However, Wii-health is in the works that is meant as a fitness game may be worth waiting for.

I Wii out with Mr. Cupid every night and kick his butt in boxing. It is a great workout and I have a great time playing.
Have a look at the Fitness Training as well that comes with Wii Sports.
Nintendo is coming out with a lot more games over the next while and I am sure that more will have a more active stance then the current line up of games.

Some info for WiiFit if anyone is still interested. One part looks similar to DDR. I think it'll be a good family game, for people who don't have time/money for a gym or find it hard to motivate themselves to go to the gym.

here's a trailer for WiiFit

and a demonstration at a Press Conference

The only info I've found so far on a release date is 2007 in Japan, no info for North Amer.

Picked one up and played with it. Yes it's a small machine however there's a slim sensor that goes above or below the TV (about the size of a windshield wiper blade). The machine is much cheaper than the 360 or PS3 (mind you it doesn't do as many things nor is it as powerful).

I found the Wii to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed the tennis and boxing game that comes with the machine.

This is a good machine to fool around with because the new games that they create will probably be pretty innovative given all the potential with the remote and nunchuk. Also, not a bad way to pass the time while waiting for the other machines to come down in price. And the games are simple enough that when people come over they can try it without too much difficulty (just try explaining a game that requires all the buttons on the PS plus the need to do say quarter circles and press two buttons at the same time).
