For those who have the xbox 360, can both the core and premium versions play the old xbox games?

Someone told me you need to purchase the external hard drive in order to play old xbox games. Is this the case?

Do all old xbox games work on the 360 or is it only a few games at the moment?
Is their some compatibility list?

Yes you do need the hard drive as you need to download updates for the games and those updates need to be stored on the harddrive. The hard drive is a must have especially if you want to play online games through xbox live. There is also Xbox Live Arcade in which you can download old school games like Frogger, PAC MAN, Mz Pac Man, Paperboy, Uno, Texas Hold em, ect. The hard drive is worth the investment but if you are gonna get a system then buy the premium one as you get the hard drive and some extras for the same price as a the core system and the hard drive.

A little bit off topic but where do you get the best value for trading in Xbox games to purchase Xbox 360 games? Thanks.
