I need to wipe everything off of my computer so it is just like it came out new out of the box. I have done it before but i dont remember how to do it. Any help would be appreciated .
Windows 98 won't be supported for updates etc after the release of Vista OS, if you're going to go thru all the work of re installing, maybe you should look at updating the OS,,, just my opinion.
Go to 'Add/Remove Programs' in Control Panel on you Start Menu. Click the tab 'Startup Disk' and get a floppy disk and follow directions to create the boot disk. Insert the floppy shut down and restart your computer and follow the directions on 'Formatting' your hard drive from the tools on the floppy disk. Make sure you use the option to 'Use CD Rom Support' so that you can use the CD Rom to install a new OS.
Windows 98 still has a big following. Its fast on some PCs that would die on Win2K or XP. A great site is available that builds and hosts free service packs for Win 98 long after Microsoft stopped at SP2. Go to http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html and you can pull them from there.
I've used this site many times to breath new life into older machines.
